Thank you for this great question and a significant item to bring up.
ThePath is spot on concerning this topic, they must register and I see the purpose behind it for keeping track of order internally though I agree that an option to have guest checkouts would be cool too.
It is also good to have this relational information for accounting purposes as well.

Hi Andy, welcome to WPMU Dev and for using the forum.
No I dont think this is a feature but I think its one Ive requested before....I think.
I would like to see this feature though as most "full blown" ecommerce solutions have this feature.
So plus one from me.
