Hey bangfruit.
This after a re-install of multi-site.
The first thing would be to check for conflict. You said this was a fresh install?
If you do have other plugins installed, even in the mu plugins folder then remove those to ensure there is not conflict. Even if not activated. You can rename the /plugins/ directory to ensure nothing is being use there.
I need to have a look over the weekend at this closer. I don't actually use my main blog for anything, so I will investigate and re-open once I have a look at that log.
It turns out there is a "problem" with my database. I now this becasue my host pSek has wiped my site and the problem occurs when I import my backed up database.
we have been through this twice, its fine until database import.
How can I be sure my database is correct for wordpress 3.1?
If I go to Mysites>sitename> visit site
I see no site.
I go to network>admin> sites>
The names of the sub domains aren't listing fully.
If I go to
I go to network>admin> sites> dashboard >user
I don't see the users of the site listed or their role. (most of these sub site have at least an administrator)
(This will likely lead to not being able to add users which is how this whole thing started)
I have a few screen caps if this isn't clear.
Hosting company said perhaps something wrong with the database.
Do you think I should wipe it again ? or try to trouble shoot it?
I'm not sure which is the least amount of steps from this point.

Starting a fresh is easiest.
If it were me, I would be interested to in troubleshooting it. But that is your choice.
I suppose it depends on what stage your site is at. Is it new, would you loose a great deal starting again?
Do you not have more backups? I generally have my servers backup daily. I then keep daily, weekly and monthly backups in an archive. If you have those could you try an old one?

Hey again.
That looks like the access logs. Could you please check your error logs.
If you can't locate them and need some help finding them could you please ask your host where to get em. It would help to see the what errors are produced.

Hey bangfruit, hope you are well.
Just checking in to see how you are going with this. Did you get those error logs? And did you get it sorted?
We haven't heard from you on this thread for a while, perhaps you got help over email. I'm going to presume your all fixed up now and don't need any further assistance.
However if you have more questions or need some more help then please feel free to respond in this thread or create a new one and we will be more than happy to offer assistance. :-)

Try with the default Twenty Eleven theme...
You can also check your htaccess:
http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network#.htaccess_and_Mod_Rewrite
If non of that works or your already doing that, then take a look into your servers error logs and let me know whats in there.
Take care.

My Log file is too big 303kb.
Is there anything I should look for?
Support Chimp — 8th February 2012 (3 months ago) #
Hey again. :-)
The error log will have time stamps on it. Just copy the ones relevant to the last few days or a week whilst you've had the issue.
Thanks.

Okay, I am back at it.
I have the error. It is only from a week or so due to my network being re-installed.
It is too big to post here.
Is there another way I can show it to you? would a screen capture be okay?
Support Chimp — 15th February 2012 (3 months ago) #
You should be able to post it here, just post the relevant parts. Or the last weeks work if you are unsure.
If a screenshot is best for you then please feel free.
Take care.

What were the errors? That might point to the issue... Is it a missing table? corrupt table?
Take care.

Well I have don't have a large network but I have about 12 critical sites that need to be addressed.
If I do a "find and replace" in my old SQL (new server) can I just upload a back up to new and go from there.
I have a few older back ups, sporadic, but I could easily re_build from one of them.
I'm generally more informed but this is a new issue for me, learning to swim in a monsoon and all.
Support Chimp — 17th February 2012 (3 months ago) #
Sure you can always upload a backup. Just ensure you keep a backup of any changes you might want to revert to again.
Some of those errors in the log files might point to the problem for you......
Take care.

I don't see any errors. (Not sure what to look for)
Hosting company has already reset account either way.
My back up produces the same problem. I am stumped.
I have no faith in my hosting company.
Anyway.
Here is the access log the current install ( which is producing the same issue as when I started)

Ah earlier you mentioned after I asked about the error log:
If you ask your host where the error log is and share the last recent errors form this week.
Thanks.
Member — 17th February 2012 (3 months ago) #
I was mistaken, I only have the access log from that time.
Support Chimp — 17th February 2012 (3 months ago) #
Hey again.
Right, so if its not working now can you check those logs to see what is being thrown out.
Thanks.

Is there anyway I can send it to you. It's a bit foreign to me.
Support Chimp — 17th February 2012 (3 months ago) #
Sure, you can post it in here, just copy and past those lines its fine. I only need the say 10 or so first. (the ones at the end of the file)
Thanks.
