Hi Gang
Membership 2.1.2 has just been released, this version fixes a few issues and now forces protected post and page access to the no access page rather than using a 404.
If you are using the posts or pages rule in any of your levels, then please edit and re-save those levels if you want to take advantage of the new functionality.
Membership plugins are now Membership Addons, so please ensure that the addons that you want to use (gateways, rules, etc) are activated in the new menu item.

Hiya Barry- I am having some trouble with the new release. All of my pages are 404ing and the URL redirects to no-access-here page (which I understand it will now, however, it is not even displaying the NO ACCESS message....just a 404
Check your options are showing the correct settings for the no access page. Then you'll need to make sure you've refreshed your levels, so go into each one and click save.
Finally go to settings -> permalinks and refresh those just to make sure.
does this version allow custom registration fields yet?? I've been waiting for the ability to add a users address so I could send them membership cards.
Hi, am a newbie here and I have Pro Sites setup and can't see how Membership works with this - it is essentially the same thing isn't it? If not should I use both?
Thanks
@swordfishsoup - they are two different plugins for two different types of site. Most of the time (well, pretty much all of the time) you will use one or the other, it is extremely rare that you would want to use them together.
Thanks Barry - Could you point me in the direction where I might find the information I need to establish which one I need. I have set up a facility for clients to have a 7 day trial and then choose one of three subscription levels for their website. Similar to the photogaphyblogsites model.
From what I can see both plugins allow this so I'm a bit confused.
Are you offering them the ability to create a blog? If yes then pro sites as membership doesn't do this, it is designed to control access to content not facilities.
Sounds like this is the right direction according to what you are saying?
Yes, Pro sites rather than membership.
@Eric G. - Membership has never been adjusted to work with supporter. I released a beta add-on a while ago in order to provide some basic integration and that should still function.

It is my understanding that the Beta addon later became integrated into the plugin itself. I guess my question is does this addon support the new levels feature that Pro-Sites offers? Before the option was just connecting a membership level to being a supporter. I want three membership levels for three different pro-sites levels.

We have a website we are setting Membership up on. We have the latest version. We have created access levels and a subscription plan. We activated the invite codes option. The registration, account center and members only pages have been set up. When e try to sign up as a member, however, we get through step 1 and then step 2 shows the name of the subscription, but there is no way to select it.
We activated Authorize.net as it is the one we want to use. I don't think we made any other changes to the gateways. We have the correct id and trans key entered.
OK adding the free subscription gateway seems to have fixed the problem of not being able to select a plan. Now we have a new problem.
We have the invite code addon activated. If someone fills out the registration form without entering a code, however, they are taken to a blank page. Is this supposed to happen, or should there not be some kind of error page or message saying a code is required?
where we are trying to have the content of a specific page just available to registered users. So we created an access level called "Non Registered Users" and then added that specific page to the "negative rules".
Then under options, we have selected "Non Registered Users" as the stranger level and added a protected content page that will give them the message when they try to access the page to register on the site.
It works well when I test it using the my admin account, but does not seem to be working for any other user. Can you please point out what I am not doing right.
The client is kind of getting impatient now. Many thanks upfront.

That was quick! Thanks.
A site with blog - full Wordpress facilities really.
I'm using Pro Sites currently although at early stages. It seems to do what I need.
Sounds like this is the right direction according to what you are saying?
I've been looking for a front end editing plugin to compliment this, is that functionality in any of your other plugins?
Thanks again for the fast response.

I am also wondering if the membership plugin has been adjusted to work with Pro-Sites as it did with Supporter.

Barry,
Thanks for the plugin, great stuff..
Here:
http://wpmu.org/create-a-simple-tutorial-site-with-the-wpmu-dev-membership-plugin/
NOTE: I have 2.1.2 installed
I've activated the Settings -> Discussion -> Users must be registered and logged in to comment
But I am not seeing the Associate Role within the Level setup?
Any help would be great
Thanks
Carl

Hiya Carl,
The Associated Role is an add-on that you must first activate through the Membership>Add Ons menu.
Once it's activated you should see it at the bottom of your Access Level editing page. Thanks!

I'm wondering this as well :)

Hi,
Could you please guide me through installing a new language to this plugin. I can not get it to work in my language.

Hi Barry,
I am trying to do a very simple thing. I have the 2.1.2 installed on the following site
http://www.quitforum.ca
where we are trying to have the content of a specific page just available to registered users.
Sincerely,
OAK
