I have membership installed and also Business Directory Plugin to manage listings for members.
I am having some conflict that I can't resolve here.
I've added all possible attributes of Business Directory Plugin to the positive rules in the plan I am setting up, so I've added pages, categories, shortcodes, and I made sure there is nothing in the negative rules to conflict with that.

And even now, they only work for admin, so when I am logged in as admin I can see them, but when I log in as any other user they just give me blank pages.

Do you have any other plugins installed and active? If so, deactivate them as well and see if the behaviour changes. Also revert to the default Directory theme if you aren't already using it.
I really don't think other plugins could be causing this, simply because the pages are visible when logged in as admin but not for other users, so it's working but not allowed to be seen by users other than admin.
It seems like some sort of protection caused by the membership plugin itself to me, doesn't that make sense?
And I just tried to disable protection in Membership and the pages became visible right away to all users.
Simply put,
Anybody but the admin doesn't see the marketplace listings.
Only the admin can see them, and they show" There are no listings found in the directory" if seen by any other member at any other level.
( And once I disable the membership protection, everybody can see it right away, even if not logged in !)
I included the screenshot for the Club organizer becuase it's the same level admin is assigned to and still it's not the same for other members who are club organizers, they still can't see it.
As for the rules, the only one I could find related to the marketplace are those in the short-codes, and I have all of them checked in the positive roles as attached.

Hmm okay, could I take a look at your install myself? If so, please send admin details through the contact form with a link to this thread so I can trace back.

Hiya!
As far as we can see Membership is doing what it should. I had assumed you were using our Directory plugin but I see you aren't and I think it might be that where it's falling down.
I've asked the developer to take a look and I'll come back to you once I've heard back.
Hi,
thank you so much for all your efforts.
I didn't know you had one, a directory plugin.
Do you think using yours will solve this problem and work just fine?
I also see you have a classifieds plugin, which do you suggest would work better with my site, I am currently using BuddyPress, membership and I want a way for users to be able to add their listings and pay for them which is compatible with the other plugins.
Can you email through the other plugin you are using to us? Then we can have a proper look at the code and see what it is doing behind the scenes and why things aren't displaying.
I note from the screenshot above that you are allowing access to the posts individually for the club organiser level, I assume you have protected these for your stranger level?
What's happening is that membership when activated, prevents the listing from appearing no matter which rules I set. It's only available to the site admin when logged in.
All other members including those set at the same access level as admin can't see the listings and get a message saying" There are no items listed in this directory"
However, once I disable membership protection, it appears right away.
The Marketplace listings screenshot attached earlier in this thread show you what I mean.
I also tried using your classifieds plugin and the same exact thing happened, so I can assume this means that membership is what's to blame for this not the other plugins.
So, did you see what I was talking about and the problem I am facing?
I really need your help, as I've been waiting from so long, I started this thread 3 weeks ago and still haven't gotten any solutions !
If this isn't gong to work, please, let me know so I can switch to another membership plugin as my project is way behind schedule becuase of this issue and I really need to get this wrapped up quickly.
I am sorry to say that I decided to drop using your membership plugin and switched over to another plugin becuase you couldn't help me sort out the problems I faced and I waited for so long but didn't get any helpful answers.

Hiya!
First of all, have you checked if the directory listings work without having Membership active?
Thanks,
Phil

Yes, they do.
And even now, they only work for admin, so when I am logged in as admin I can see them, but when I log in as any other user they just give me blank pages.
Does that make any sense to you?

I did deactivate all plugins that might interfere but nothing changed.
Can using URL groups help with this in any way?
thanks,

Did you deactivate all plugins? It's not necessarily one that seems like it might interfer...

Well we can never be sure - hence why we need to eliminate all other possible causes.
Let me know how that turns out and we can move forward...
Thanks
Member — 6th January 2012 (4 months ago) #
Yes, but it works just be disabling protection in Membership plugin with everything else as it is.
Doesn't that say it's a protection issue?
Member — 9th January 2012 (4 months ago) #
So, any idea how to get it to show up for users other than admin?
I am still waiting for your reply.
Sales & Support Pro — 9th January 2012 (4 months ago) #
Can you show me exactly what you have set up for levels and the associated rules please?
Member — 9th January 2012 (4 months ago) #
Sure, but should I give you access to the Dashboard or what?
And is it safe to paste the login info in here?
thanks,
Sales & Support Pro — 10th January 2012 (4 months ago) #
Screenshots will be fine at this stage - no need to give me access.
Thanks
Member — 10th January 2012 (4 months ago) #
OK, here is the options page attached.
Also attached the club organizer access level which basically has all features set as positive, and the admin is part of this access level.
Third is how the listings page appear when logged in as admin and when logged in as any other user.
Hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi Phil:
So, have you been able to figure out what's causing my problem here?
I really need to get this matter solved.
thanks,

Hiya,
The Edit Level screenshot shows the "Club Organiser" level but I don't see the settings for the Free User and Free Membership levels...
It's also unclear what the screenshot marked "logged in as any other user" is showing because you haven't said which level that user is on.
Can you clarify that for me please?
Member — 13th January 2012 (4 months ago) #

Does that explain the situation better?

I can't see any rules in your screenshot relating to the marketplace itself... can you clarify the relevant rules you have?
Also, having that TM character in the URL probably isn't helping matters - can you remove that?
Thanks
Member — 13th January 2012 (4 months ago) #
Thanks for the tip about TM, just removed that.
As for the rules, the only one I could find related to the marketplace are those in the short-codes, and I have all of them checked in the positive roles as attached.
So, what do you think now?

Email sent now.
Please, have a look and let me know how can we solve this.
Just please, be careful with it as I've spent long hours working on this site and don't want to lose anything.
thanks.

Thanks for sending those through. However, the credentials didn't work. Could you check and re-send those please?
Thanks

Sorry about that, just sent again the correct ones.

Dear Phil:
Just did a test disabling the membership protection and guess what?
Listing appear for everyone! ( have a look yourself)
http://fiberfollies.com/marketplace-specials/
So, I guess this confirms that the issue we're having is with membership itself not the other plugin.
Can you please, help me solve this?

@Phil:
I've been waiting for 6 days now to hear back from you.
Did you manage to find out what's causing this problem?
I really need an answer as the plugin is not usable to me this way if I am not able to solve this problem.
Please, get back to me as soon as possible with an answer to my previous questions.

Dear Barry:
Thank you for getting back to me.
I am using Business Directory Plugin to create a paid business listing.
http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/
What's happening is that membership when activated, prevents the listing from appearing no matter which rules I set. It's only available to the site admin when logged in.

Was I able to explain my point clearly to you?
thanks.
