Hi all
I've just uploaded version 1.0.1 of the Membership plugin, and brings it into line with the version number of the Lite version of the plugin, so no more annoying update nags.
This version has a couple of bug fixes in it, and has also removed a few shortcode php tags that slipped through the net. It also has a name change to Membership Premium to help distinguish it from the Lite version.
As well as this update, I've released two more add-ons. Both are shortcode add-ons to ensure that the relevant shortcodes for the Contact Form 7 and WP Audio plugins are both protectable.

The custom menu issue with themes has been sorted :)
Just one small issue: In IE8 the header background gets a gap in it. I have attached an image.
The header here normally meets the top navigational menu, but there is a gap between them in IE8
@Barry, well I think I must be still doing something wrong..I've updated to membership 1.0.1 (plugins page tells me I'm using membership premium) and uploaded
I have some png images on a page and they are not showing when membership is enabled. They show up as unavailable. When membership is disabled they show up.
This is only a problem in IE 8 not Firefox or Chrome.
@AquaPebble - Can you give me a page to look at? if you look at the HTML source of the images what URL is used for one of the images that do not show up? If you put this directly in the browser can you see the image?
Well I resolved my menu-widget issue by using another plugin, and now I've moved on to setting up my gateway, everything is working fine until I get into the sandbox where paypal tells me:
"The link you have used to enter the PayPal system is invalid. Please review the link and try again."
when I try and log in as my test user...any ideas what this might be?
Arrrgh. The search forum function is really limited. I've spent an hour and can find nothing...
I just started using this plugin and I'm looking for how to deal with the payment gateways. Just the free and paypal payment gateway is available and I'd really like the Amazon payment gateway (it shows in the plugin folder under membership includes) to show too.
Hi All I am sorry to grab your attention with this post but I am not making progress with my 1.0.1 membership issue here and you may know what I am doing wrong. I assume I am doing something simple that's not working ;-(
The link you have used to enter the PayPal system is invalid. Please review the link and try again
Are you logged into the sandbox admin area in the same browser session?
I had an issue where I needed to be logged into the sandbox admin, otherwise it wouldn't recognise the sandbox email accounts for the test users I had created.
In testing of Membership, we've seen some PayPal behavior that confuses users. They get three e-mails from PayPal...one about the payment itself, one saying that a subscription has been created, and one saying that a subscription has been canceled. Why does this happen, and what can we do about it? Our test users say it's very confusing.

How can masking the download URL protect files when "everybody" knows the files are in
You can change that directory quite easily in your wordpress install, so you don't have your files in a common location - I know mine are not in the uploads directory anymore.

They should get two email - one for the payment and one for a created subscription - but it depends on what the settings for your subscription are.
They should get a subscription ended email when the subscription comes to its end, but only get a cancelled one if they (or you - though not sure that the site owner can cancel a subscription at their end) cancel the subscription.
Hallo Barry i m Marco From Italy and sorry if my english is not good.... ok?
Barry have in wpmu dev one plugin for affiliate but only use feed rss?
i see in the web is possible create the blog or the web site only insert the script and the address off feed.
Tanks all friends and good day for all.
bye bye from Italy
1. Do you happen to know where I can edit a file to change the uploads directory?
Your should be able to change it in the options for your site - if you have multi-site enabled it's in Super Admin -> sites -> edit link, change Upload Path. Not sure where it is on standard WP now, used to be under Settings -> Misc.
I'm thinking of further obfuscating the media file names in the next version of the plugin as well, to be extra sure they can't be found.
i have trouble with the membership plugin. i cant see the membership dashboard in my admin backend, all other plugins running well. i am using wordpress 3.0.1 and buddypress 1.2.5. - can you help?
Just a quick note to anyone facing this problem - it took me a fair while to work it out;
If you have "Free" access to a parent category, then Membership gives you access to all children, even if you have NOT included the child in the ""Free" levels access....
so if you have
category: My Free Stuff
and category: My Exclusive Stuff
Where My Exclusive Stuff is a child of My Free Stuff then Membership will give access to My Exclusive Stuff if your user has access to My Free Stuff, even if you DONT name My Exclusive Stuff in the Level definition...
@barry,
i would like to place shordcodes in my template like [premium] premium content goes here [/premium] to just restrict writing comments. is it possible somehow to place them in my template?
thx
david

@Barry, well I think I must be still doing something wrong..I've updated to membership 1.0.1 (plugins page tells me I'm using membership premium) and uploaded
membership-plugin-contact-form-7-shortcode-1.php
to:
/public_html/wp-content/plugins/membership/membershipincludes/plugins
but it is still blocking my contact form.
Did I put the right thing in the right place?

@Barry
This is the page: http://ukmarketingnetwork.com/business-directory/
This is a link to one of the images: http://ukmarketingnetwork.com/files/2010/08/consultantsbutton.png
When I put that image link directly into the IE8 browser I can see it.
Edit: I also just noticed the whole page is out when I scroll down in IE 8 as well.

Does the Membership plugin allow having private blogs?
If so, would Membership-controlled private blogs be a good alternative to BP private groups?
Thanks,

Thanks, Barry,
1. Do you happen to know where I can edit a file to change the uploads directory?
2. Also, will Membership allow me to host a private blog?
3. Finally, has there been any progress in connecting the Membership database to aWeber?
Thanks,

Barry,
Thanks. That sure beats doing a reinstall. Actually, I found two places where the name and path of the upload file needed to be changed, as follows:
Super Admin --- Site ---- Edit Site ---- Fileupload Url AND Upload Path
Then, since I am using the Scholar Theme, I also changed the following paths:
Ne Buddyscholar Header Logo
Ne Buddyscholar Header Logo Square
Ne Buddyscholar Header Logo Square
Then I moved the files in my Uploads folder to my new folder to make my Media Library and images work again.
It all works fine. Now I have a secret Uploads folder ready for Membership.

The only way I could sort out the images not showing was to put that whole page into a template, now membership does not affect those images.

Membership lite seems to be at v1.0.2 and is nagging to update again. Can you tell me if the Membership Pro version is still v1.0.1?
Sales & Support Lead — 4th October 2010 (1 year ago) #
Hiya,
Pro is still at 1.0.1. When we update, this problem will be fixed as referenced in this thread:
http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/clarify-membership-updates-on-wordpress-please
Sorry about the inconvenience. None of our plugins here auto-update through WordPress, so always avoid that if it's one of ours. Thanks! :D

Where can we change this auto generated text, which appears after people register? We would like to customize it for our needs.

Hiya,
Wording is handled in membership/membershipincludes/includes/member.for.php
Just FYI, you can always find bits of hardcoded text like this with a simple search :D
