Friends has a list of added friends and their avatar and the ability to view their blog from the list
Looks like messaging hooks to the same functionality, but more of a inbox feel with sent messages
now im weirded out lol, i sent a friends message and it showed up in the messaging inbox
after reading, RTFM lol, i guess they are tied together
Is friends the way to search for the "friends" and display on page via widget?
And messaging give it the ability to actually message between people
i suppose there is some overlap but i think you cold not recieve a message without the messaging plugin, but you cold have the messaging plugin without the friends plugin

Hiya rpawly,
Yeah, these plugins (friends, messaging, and community) are from WAY back in the dark times before BuddyPress of late 2008-early 2009. ;D
They still function and serve their purpose though perhaps they could be combined. I actually still use them on sites where I think the full BuddyPress treatment is too much.
Anybody else using these and have additions they'd like to see?
Well, I'm playing with them because I can't use BuddyPress with the Easy Blogging plugins.
But I've got the Easy Blogging plugin installed and it's not displaying the community or messaging options. So they actually have to disable the Easy Admin to see them... or so it seems. It would be great if I could make heads/tails of where my users can expect to find stuff. Is the community/messaging stuff for users who sign into the main/root site and don't open a blog?
Am I missing something? I'm trying to figure out this whole thing and my last thread (posted earlier today... or last night...) detailing my questions isn't receiving any bites.

Hiya Jennifer,
The Easy Blogging plugin is meant to be very simplistic and as such hides all other menus other than the ones you see by default.
You can code in new tabs yourself (you'll have to code them in). There's a thread with an attachment that can provide some guidance:
http://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/easy-blogging-add-tab
That should help you get the Tabs you want to display.
Thanks
