I've been playing around with the plugin MobilePress for WP, which points mobile browsers to see a customized low-bandwidth version of the site. I've been trying to get it working so that every site in my WPMU install has it automatically running, but for some reason it will not work.
The target audience for my MU site is college-age students and getting it so that all blogs on the site can load easily on mobile devices would be a huge deal. Has anyone played around with MobilePress ( http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/mobilepress/ ) or knows some other way to do the same thing?

I've tried both methods of site-wide install ( /mu-plugins/ or /plugins/ and activating it sitewide ) but in both cases it only installed in the panel in the site admin's dashboard. I've done another check and it applies fine to any blogs of which the admin account is an author, but no other blogs.
Thanks for the suggestion Andrew, I did contact MobilePress's developer.
Either they took my idea under consideration or they they were already working on it (more likely) because the latest release of the plug-in seems to have fixed the issue.
All the blogs generated by my site are currently working with MobilePress.

I don;t have any open tickets on it. From looking at the wp.org forums though, it appears the developer may have taken off so I'm torn on suggesting it.
Someone did write up a post on adding in Windows support:

Hiya,
Are you installing it in /mu-plugins/ or /plugins/ and activating it sitewide?
Thanks,
Andrew

Are you running wp-super-cache or any other caching plugin is the background? I seem to remember an issue with wp-super-cache.

Should I look into the code of the plugin?

Hiya,
Can you contact the developer of the plugin to see if they can look into WPMU compatibility? A lot of developers will look into it for you.
Thanks,
Andrew

Very good! Do you have it in /mu-plugins/ or /plugins/ (just curious)?
Thanks,
Andrew

And how are you running cache if any?
For reference, this is the one we use:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-mobile-edition/
Never had any feedback on it.

drmike, is the plugin still working well for you? I'm considering changing to it from wptouch.

Well wptouch works fine, but isn't translatable. I guess I'll keep using that while waiting on a complete mobile solution.
