Hi,
I just downloaded the latest version of multi-db and my first go at getting it to work was a no go. Then I got to thinking that it might not even be compatible with the version of wpmu I am using, can you please tell me if I can in fact use it with wpmu 3.0.1 ?
If yes, can you please tell me is there step by step instructions explaining everything I need to do to set it up? I thought I had everything working fine, but when I visit the main site or the admin I am getting a cannot connect to database error. I am thinking I am going to have to start over at this point. This is for a new set up so I did not loose any data.

Yes, it is definitely compatible. Just to verify you did all these steps:
1. Created all your dbs, including global
2. Configured the db-config.php with all those details
3. Configured the move blogs script and successfully ran it.
4. Installed the plugin
I did all that, did get some errors that I worked out when I first ran the script, not the errors that were mentioned that I would see at the bottom, but rather the error of not connecting to the database.
as far as installing the plugin goes, do you mean putting the files in the right directory? if so, I did do that, but after when I was finally able to connect and run the script, I got a very short list, and then on revisiting the site, and or admin I get a database connection error. so if you are talking about installing any other plugin, I am not able to as I can not access admin, only ftp file access.
sorry for the hold up on the reply..
I am confident I have the files all set up right...
here is the error messages I am getting at the top of the page when I run move-blogs.php
I put it up on my server since there is a bit. did not want to paste all in here, have a look here please http://playsonlinegames.com/warning.txt
( I don't see a full list of the databases below this when I refresh... only some) and I have a bit of a list in global, but they don't seem to be moving over correctly either.
I ran a test setting up new blog and everything goes in first database created when I first put up wpmu, so I know it is not working at all.
and this is what I am getting when I try and access the blog both on the main site and trying to access admin
Warning: error_log(/tmp/db-connect.txt) [function.error-log]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/playsonl/public_html/wp-content/db.php on line 836
Fatal error: Call to undefined method wpdb::get_blog_prefix() in /home/playsonl/public_html/wp-includes/ms-settings.php on line 127
the only way I seem to be able to log in is if I delete the db.php from wp-content
Tried to remove everything from super cache, but did not help :(
Where could I check ?
I was in wp3 admin, but it stopped working once I tried to update wp-content/db.php with multi-db 3.0.2 OR when I click on "upgrade blogs".
Tried to revert, but can't.... I'm stuck with this error
Thanks for your help,
I have reinstalled a fresh new install of wp 3.0.1.
I've just added the db.php and the db-config.php with my previous data, but I still run into the problem establishing a connection to the database.
Thanks for your quick help. I'm stuck with no workaround, and users begin to complaint a lot ... :(

any chance there is a current step by step some place?
I only found this and the steps don't seem in order, nor does it seem like I have all the files that are mentioned;

@Barry what should the connection details for wp-config.php be?
the old connection information or new?
Thanks.

Are you using any sort of caching? Looks like a problem with caching:

I'm using wp-super-cache
