Hi Guys,
Just a couple of questions about the memory footprint of Multi-DB. On my setup (4096) it takes up 15-20Mb memory. Is this normal and if so would it be reduced if I moved down to 256 db's?

Same server, the DB's have already been created long time ago and as soon as I implement Multi-DB opposed to just using one DB the memory usage jumps by 15-20Mb.
It won't be too much problem in the future as soon as money starts coming in I'll increase my VPS account.
I guess cutting down to 256 would then cut down the memory footprint since there will be a fraction of them being used in the background.
I think I'll stick to one at the moment as it gives me a bit of leg room for everything and when the time comes update my servers and convert to Multi-DB when required.
I'm in the final stages at the mo of developing my site so there's only 5 ;)
However, I'll be pushing it rather large over the next 12 months so expect to get at least 4 or 5 figures worth depending on how much I work on it. I'm just targeting one country at the mo. After which I plan to expand it even further and go more global which will then increase that exponentially..
Kind of start small think big sort of thing and been sorting out a server infrastructure that will allow me to do that in the future...
Have a look at what I'm working on at dinkypages.co.nz :)

Is this on your DB server or web server (or are they the same)? I ask because additional databases would definitely increase your overall ram usage.
Thanks,
Andrew

I would imagine the increase is from the databases now being used as opposed to just sitting there.

How many blogs do you currently have and how many do you plan on having over the next couple of years?
Thanks,
Andrew

If you'll be having over 100K blogs I'd just go with 4096 databases from the start. Going from 256 to 4096 is a pain.
Thanks,
Andrew

Are you still running apache? Switching over to something else like Nginx would free up some space.

Tell me about it - hence why I've gone back to pure Nginx and been a happy bunny ever since :)
