Hi gang
I've attached a zip of the db.php for testing before I upload it as version 3.0.3 of the multi-db plugin.
This version should enforce the collation and charset across all databases and fix the "strange character" errors that have been reported for version 3.0.2.
It would be great, if you previously had that issue, if you could download and try this version and let me know if it solves the problem.
As with previous versions, the db-config.php file isn't included in this zip and shouldn't need changing.

Hi all - just reading through the install instructions and all looks OK except it says to set user names and passwords for each database once created - does this mean you have to manually set the user and password for each database, or is there some way to do it for all?
Just looking to not waste a number of hours if I don't have to, that's all.
OK - I'm getting through this.
---------------------------------
1. In Step 4 of the instructions I don't understand what you are saying:
4. You'll want to copy and past these lines directly above the commented out "VIP Blogs" section.
Finally, we'll add the line for our global database. Directly above the lines you just pasted. It will look
There is my original database name "dbname_", the new databases "dbname_0, dbname_1, dbname _2, etc" - however there is no database of "dbname_global" that has been created.
Should I be creating a new database "dbname_global" or just put the line in the db-config file even though that database does not exist? Should it just be the original database name, eg "dbname"?
In the db-config file I have defined a global database table of "dbname_global"
---------------------------------
2. Just a quick additional question also, if I have commented out the add_dc_ip line as it is not relevant do I just leave that area blank when getting the DB_Servers info?

Wish I can use this but I'm on a cloud with 10 servers up on initial state (grow based on load). Tying the db's together at the logic layer is a bit over kill :(
Now if I could only get my site to USE all that cloud LOL

No shouts of "arrgh it's gone and broken everything" so I'll set this version to be the live download later today.

Gotta admit that I haven;t tried it. Not enough coffee/ hot cocoa/ chicken broth/ etc. in my system currently.
Has anyone?

I'm testing it right now, but unfortunately, it's still not be able to fix the strange character problem. Here is my post on it:

Hello,
I just had the original version installed. What must I do to update this plugin? Where can I find it? What location do I upload this new php file to?
Thanks

I think it overwrites the db.php file in wp-content.

It depends on how you access your mysql database? if cpanel then I don't think you can do a mass setup.

You have to do it as root. Within phpmyadmin, you get a lot more setup options than an enduser.
edit: Hey, 6k rep points. :)
