Using Network theme, the custom-background does not appear on buddypress pages once buddypress is fully activated.
If activated:
<body class="directory groups logged-in ">
If not activated (error 404 is only because BP is not fully activated, but is a BP page, and the custom-background carries through just fine)
<body class="logged-in error404 custom-background">
I imagine I have missed a glaring step, but have gone through everything and find nothing in the forum.
Wishing the forum would let one search only within a theme. I consistently get answers not related to the network theme even when I quote it.

Hello sharonmiranda,
I tested it out and you are right, the custom background isn't showing up on BuddyPress pages. I will inform the developer regarding this. Hopefully this gets fixed in the next release.
Thanks for pointing it out.

Note to Moha:
Upload a custom Background via WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > Background and check the BuddyPress pages and other pages. You will see that the BuddyPress pages doesn't have the background, while other pages do have.
Thanks!

Still waiting. Perhaps this theme simply isn't ready for public.
