Hoping you like our latest release - it allows you (and your users) to post to their blogs from the dashboard AND front of their blogs... just like they do on Facebook!

Have tested and do think Post Formats should be used where themes support them.
Did notice that if a Status is added and you do not preview the Status before posting the default title is - My quick link post rather than - My quick generic post
Would be even cooler cool though, if you could choose to set the image, as featured image as well, since there's only text and no image when seeing it on the front page. Just a suggestion, it's still very nice ;)

If you post a status with this plugin it adds a post just like when you go to Posts > Add New and so yes, Ultimate Facebook will automatically pick up on that!
The post formats idea makes perfect sense, and I believe it will go well with what the plugin does. In the latest release (v1.1, just released) you can now specify post formats for particular content type you share, provided post formats are supported by your theme.
@Johnny, that's a pretty radical idea right there. I do like it, but there are other things to consider with MarketPress products - e.g. price, shipping, all that other stuff that characterize a product. Changing a plugin so it posts a product instead of a post isn't hard at all, but the problem is in all those other values that characterize a product.
What is a simple explanation of the value/use of post formats and how this plugin can make good use of them. I use 2011 theme. The Stutus settings page lets you select between different options (standard, link, etc) and am not sure what these options provide.
The post formats are useful, as they provide your theme a way to format your posts differently (if supported). For an example, this is how a link post looks on 2011 theme, using the "Status" post format: http://i54.tinypic.com/34z14ww.png
A Post Format is a piece of meta information that can be used by a theme to customize its presentation of a post. The Post Formats feature provides a standardized list of formats that are available to all themes that support the feature.
...
In short, with a theme that supports Post Formats, a blogger can change how each post looks by choosing a Post Format
Thanks VeBailovity, so on the settings page for Status, we have a range of ways of presenting Status posts by combing with wordpress post format options. Is that correct? By testing out all the combos we can see what looks best.
Wonderful! Thank you
I am not seeing video as an option in the post formats drop down in the admin.
Is there any plans to add more options so that standard posts, asides and quotes can all be added. In the current version if you wanted to use quotes and asides you would have to asign one of these post types to either image, video or link, which isn't ideal.
In addition there might be people out there that would like to see audio added as an option.
Although Gallery has been added as a post type there doesn't seem a way to add a gallery? I guess you are working on this.
If you click on image to add an image and then pick the - from url tab you are unable to add an image - there doesn't seem a way to actually add an image this way, so can this either be fixed or the tab removed.
Could an option be added for standard posts to be added - text and images - categories/tags etc. Then QuickPress could be hidden. The wootumblog plugin does something similar. Not sure if adding extra UI would be practical for front end posting, but it would certainly be good for the dashboard area.
There is an option for the plugin to appear on the front page only. However, if you have a static front page then this is not the best option, as it will then not appear on your posts page.
You can set it to appear on all pages, but this is also not ideal as you can't actually post anything to a static page, so it would be better to not show on static pages.
Additionally, the post formats list comes from the formats supported by your theme. The plugin allows you to choose from the formats supported by your theme - *all* formats supported by your theme, including "Gallery" (which comes with, e.g. 2011 theme - and, e.g. 2011 doesn't seem to support the "video" post format). The plugin is agnostic to what those formats actually are, and how they're handled by your theme. Depending on your situation, you may want to use this to your advantage - e.g. if you particularly like how your theme renders a particular post format, you may want to go with that for your Status post types.
As for adding the images from the web, you can just paste the image to your main text field, and it will be automatically recognized as image. Having said that, not being able to insert the image from the "From URL" tab is definitely a bug, and we'll be looking into that.
Also, thanks for pointing out the static vs. posts front page issue, what you said made perfect sense.

hummmm this is good !
well an idea : let us choose to display optionnally the post on a specific page, so that we can make a "wall", and define it as homepage, or just a wall:)
I have added this plug in but on the news feed I get the instructions as well and the thumbnail/image posted doesn't come up it is just a text link. Have I got the settings completely wrong?

Status update that is actually a new marketpress product entry?
Is this doable? Would be so simplified that its not funny!

It is technically do-able yes. By default the plugin adds a new 'post' post type but you could change that to 'product' instead.
That would change all updates to products though!

I'm just wondering if there is space for some sort of rule structure here, Ve - like the Widget Logic plugin?
Member — 2nd September 2011 (8 months ago) #
I think using is_home() rather than is_front_page() would be enough

Hi,
About post formats, I believe there is a misunderstanding on how they work. The formats list is finite:
Additionally, the post formats list comes from the formats supported by your theme. The plugin allows you to choose from the formats supported by your theme - *all* formats supported by your theme, including "Gallery" (which comes with, e.g. 2011 theme - and, e.g. 2011 doesn't seem to support the "video" post format). Another idea.
On the front page loop of the blog - you could have mini icons next to the respective posts.
See here - http://techcrunch.com/
Pretty cool !
