I tried this on my site then made some comments, but they are not appearing in the widget. It still turn up with nothing. Anyone else with this problem ?

Please make drmike happy. include a link as well as a check of your webserver's error logs. drmike not happy when that info is left out. and after 12 hours of bellringing, drmike doesn;t want to be not happy. :D
That widget plugin requires the comment indexer. did you install that? The avatar plugin as well I believe.
If you haven't read the install instructions, please give them a read. They include links to the required plugins as well:
