I've set a "Return URL" on the Paypal sandbox, but after I make a test purchase, it just redirects me back to the site's homepage. Any ideas? I would like to inform a user on what to do next after they have paid, instead of redirecting them to the homepage.

Thanks, hadn't looked at the Communications area yet so I'll set up an email there for now. The Return URL is a feature at Paypal. Could this feature be something that could be added into the plugin?
I noticed on another plugin that you set up a "thanks" page and include a shortcode of [receipt] or similar to it. After a user returns from Paypal (you add the /thanks return url) they see what they purchased and of course you can put instructions right onto this page to inform them of what they can do, like login etc.

It certainly used to work - I'll take a look, it may just be a sandbox thing (I hate that site), will have to check on the live site as well to see if they've changed anything on me.
I use popover as a thank you system on one site. If you set a popover to only show when the referrer is paypal, then you can put a thank you message and instructions in that box and it's shown regardless of the page that the user returns to.
Thanks Barry for looking into this. You're right, could be a sandbox thing. I've had sooo many "internal server errors" within the sandbox site, drives me crazy... Will take a look at popover :)

Hiya Andrew
Any further information here? Hoping this is resolved and am going to mark it as such as it's been a few days, but if not, feel free to re-open and we'll continue to support ya here.
Sorry to re-open this. I just got around to doing some more testing and the return URL isn't working still. I'm testing on a PayPal sandbox account, so I'm not sure if this works with a real paypal account yet. We all know how dodgy the paypal sandbox is so was hoping somebody could also confirm this.
I have the redirection URL correct in the paypal settings, but it redirects me to the homepage, rather than the /thanks page. I am using the latest version of the membership plugin.

Hi Andrew,
Actually, in consideration of it, I'm wondering if it might just have to do with the sandbox, as I've heard of bugs and issues in that. Could you maybe try something simple with the live version? Would that be viable?

Hiya Andrew,
Were you able to get this running on the live site? I'm gonna mark this one resolved again. If you'd like to go through anything further, feel free to re-open this thread. Alternately, you can also always open up a new one.

Hi Andrew,
Possibly the simplest way to inform members where to go after signup would be via Communications, where you could send them an email upon signup.
Apart from that I didn't see an option for returning to a URL. Would that be a setting you're seeing at PayPal sandbox?

Hiya Andrew,
Just FYI we have an update coming out shortly. Perhaps Barry can confirm whether proved to be something that needed fixing up.
Thanks!

Sorry it's still not working for ya. I'm gonna ask a couple of the developers to swing by and take a look with ya.
Thanks.

Fantastic thanks. Probably something on my end or paypal sandbox... always seems to be the case but you never know I guess :)
