Hello,
We are running the latest version of WPMU.
Is there some means by which we can provide private themes and/or plugins to specific users on the system?
Supporters plugin allows the admin to partially do so, but any user can purchase them...but instead it should be available to a specific user ONLY.

Actually you can assign themes to specific blogs out of the box with just the software. Don't activate the theme in question when you add it. To assign it, it's on the edit blog page on the Site Admin.
Others can deal with the plugin issue better than I.

Supporter plugin allows management of sitewide plugin access.
And it looks like Plugin Manager plugin allows custom "ability to override plugin access permissions for individual blogs via their backend edit section, just like you can do with themes".
This kind of does what I need but is too manual a process for each blog.
What I need is a more automated way to manage plugin access based on role or better yet based on membership level (granted by separate membership plugin).

Yes, it adds a blog specific menu on the edit screen right under the theme one.

The supporter plugin lets you set plugins to be supporter only.
