It would be very useful to allocate New Blog Templates to Pro Site levels in much the same way that Templates are added to Pro Site levels (even if the New Blog Templates are only available in the dashboard - for now). An added bonus would be if these New Blog Templates were available during the registration process.

Neat idea - I'm not sure how 'possible' this is but I'll ping a couple developers. Thanks for posting in the feature request area :)

I'd like to marry this thread to another that has some support for the topic as well... I make some points at the end about level changes vs. template selection at signup and which should be a priority. James seems on board with this.

This would be fantastic. +1 for me. I would really like to be able to create a blog template and then assign it to the corresponding Pro Sites level. This way when a new user signs up and selects a pro site level the blog template will automatically be used to create the site.
Can I make this a +10?

Definitely needed. I am actually surprised people need to ask for this. To me it sounds like a basic functionality to ease support issues and expedite setup of new user sites. Sometimes Wordpress experts are far from being Marketing experts. This is why we have waited forever to see a good marrying up of the Affiliate Plugin with other WPMU plugins as well.
You have my +1000000000 for this feature.

Today I was going to cancel my membership as what I have been waiting on seemed like it was never going to happen. $80 month waiting... Now it seems there is some life in all of this. I guess all I can do is wait some more for these features.
As this is just one step closer to a holy grail of options, please accept my +1

Did this ever get built by a developer? Seems a little silly that new blog templates don't work with the Pro Site's plugin.

Any news on this? The thread was started 7 months ago and there are a ton of +1's. Is it being added? If so, when?

Same here ...would love an update on this. We need this feature ASAP!!!!

Hiya guys,
We are looking into this, however it's gonna require a rather hefty rewrite of the way Pro Sites handles registration. So, unfortunately it won't be quick, but it is something we're spec'ing/working towards.
Thanks

Hi, I have cancelled my membership because this waiting period is massively long winded. We are told the updates to some of the things are on the near horizon for a few of these things, thus I keep paying $80 month in hope it is the following month. Not enough work is coming through my door while I hold my breath waiting for a feature I can market to get more work.
On a new note, what is going on with the font on the site? I find it near impossible to read, it is a bit hard on the eyes. Look at my screenshot attached. My browser is latest version of Chrome.

+1!!!! This would really take Pro Sites to EPIC levels man!
Is there an update on this request?
Thanks,
Nick

Is there anyway, you could have a list of templates available, for different pro site categories also plugins, but the user pays for the templates and plug ins he wants, it then installs what he paid for.
Reason: I have Free, Pro Site and Premium, Free is plain and simple, but i would like the user to "purchase" a template of choice and maybe a few plugins of choice, the reasoning, i could then "resell" templates and plugins for theme/plugin devs, and we all make some money.
Pro Site just means you get more diskspace etc... and a better choice of paid templates and plugins etc

I just now discovered that New Blog Template was not part of Pro Sites... what a Bummer! rethinking my whole business model.
WPMUDev should make beefing up Pro Sites their top priority -- would become very popular, many more customers here too.

could not agree more - for such a powerful plugin that could be fundamental to many business models.... it is severely lacking in functionality and especially eye candy

I posted on the jobboard to see what options are available to integrate New Blog Templates with Pro Sites, as well as, adding a dropdown to be able to assign new sites to different main domains. customersite.mainsite.com, customersite.different.com. I have seen that on a live site.
The response from contractors was something along the lines of 'quick and not too expensive' (relatively)
which raises some questions...
1) is it really quick and easy to modify, then why the heck doesn't WPMUDev do it?
is it a business model thing where you want people to have to pay extra for full functionality... or it is really complicated and it will take much more work than what contractors are saying...?
2) How many forum members would be willing to coop/share to pay to have someone to finish developing Pro Sites into a more workable solution?

@tripvendor Why should we have to chip in and have something developed further when we have paid for our membership that supports the development of plugins to be extended and updated. This being said, we have asked for this to be updated, and it is falling on deaf ears... that is my fear.
Member (joined April 2009) Likes (0)
Guys, we have this 98% complete already. If you need it tomorrow then you need your own developer. If you can wait for us to release it then you'll get it as soon as we have the code finished. No, I don't have an ETA.
Writing code is one thing - writing code that isn't going to break tens of thousands of member's installs when they upgrade - is a whole other level. No one here has any intention of making things difficult by not releasing features or holding them back so you have to maintain your account…. we're not the auto industry here.
Thanks.

Thanks Mason,
Clearly the upgrade issue is what has held this up, probably for a long time. Unfortunately I bet the idea of issuing a ProSite2 plugin with full integration is off the table too. Needing to support two paths is never popular with developers, but... considering that existing sites most likely have already figured out their solution, it is too bad that new sites can't benefit from something that is straightforward to deliver.

Waiting :)

two products makes sense --- please produce a new one for new installations... I doubt it is possible to do a conversion without huge complications.
ProSites seems like it would be the cornerstone of wpmudev, right now it doesn't really take advantage of available functionality... for the wrong reason

Hey all.
Before this feature gets introduced Aaron is first looking to implement the "Pay before blog creation" which is another popular request.
Unfortunately there is still no ETA on this but many of us are excited about this too and can't wait to see it released into the wild. :)
Cheers.
