I am making a website for somebody and their address is incorrect on google maps. It displays a block away from where it really is. Google allows you to edit locations but you can't edit theirs because their office is on an old military fort/base and you can't edit government locations on google maps.
My resolution to this was to use the exact coordinates instead of his address when putting their location on the map. On the google maps website this works fine, but on your plugin it appears to default to the closest address when giving directions, instead of going to the exact coordinates.
Not sure if this would be considered a bug or a feature request, but I would hate to not be able to use this plugin for them, considering the location.
Thanks!
Colin

Hi Colin
Thanks for being a member of our community and for posting to the forum.
We do have a few threads open with similar issues to yours, and we're waiting for feedback from the Developer - he is currently out on a very urgent assignment, however, should be back here shortly again.
In the meantime, I will leave some threads with you that I found with useful code for overlays in Google Maps. Not sure if this would be of any use to you - just trying to pass on some Google goodness that might be useful :)
How to Make a Google Map Overlay
How to Add an Image Overlay With V3 Maps API
Google Maps Custom Overlays
Let me know if any of this helped.
Have a good day and hope to have the Developer in here soon with some suggestion for your issue.

Hi,
A quick question, is this an auto-generated map? Even if it is, you should be able to edit the maps and manually re-position the location marker. If the marker "snaps" to the nearest known address, you might want to zoom in the map a bit and you should be able to place the marker where you want it.

Hi,
Just an update, the latest plugin release (v2.5.3, just released) comes with additional option in plugin settings, which will allow you to turn off the location snapping.

Thanks for the update and new feature! This didn't fix my issue unfortunately.
It still snaps when trying to get directions.
The first screenshot is from the google maps site, showing how it does it properly, and the second one is the same thing done using your plugin.

Greetings Colin,
Just checking in to see where we are with this issue and have a suggestion as to why not just take a screen shot of the Google rendered map and then Photo Shop the marker right where it is supposed to be?
Please advise.

Joe,
Thank you for the suggestion! I'm not sure this would solve the problem though because when somebody tries to enter in their address for directions it will give them directions to the nearest actual address because directions still have snapping location turned on. I may be confused about what you are suggesting though.
Thanks again!

Greetings Colin,
My apologies, it is I that did not understand what you were trying to indicate now that I have figured our that it is the "snap" that is causing the undesired effect.
Now I am pretty sure that the challenge still faced here is that the "snap" needs to be totally shut down?
Please advise if I got it right this time?
Cheers, Joe

Hey sorry I missed your last post. Yes the snap is causing the undesired effect when I use the get directions feature.
Thanks!

Greetings Colin,
Hmmm .... this one is a tough one. I will go ahead and ask the lead devloper to make another appearance here hopefully having some advice to offer us that I have yet to think of that is possibly causing this issue.

Thanks Joe!
I should let you know though that my client's site was finished last week and so I had to use an alternate google maps plugin to complete the site. So mark this as resolved if you do not wish to add this function.

Greetings Colin,
If I were able to add this function it would have already been done and over with, unfortunately not only am I not skilled enough to do it, I am not authorized to do it surely because of the former reason I gave.
Thank you for letting me know the status of this ticket, it is greatly appreciated.
