Any way you guys could put together a simple Badge-Maker for buddypress?
Ideally, the site admin could loan in a few different-sized badges and the plugin would automatically generate the code linking back to each users' profile page. Or maybe blog (an option?)
This would make it easier for members to promote our communities on their other sites or in email signatures. Twitter and Facebook make it easy...why not Buddypress?

I'm just wondering if the CSS badges it'd create (they'd have to be CSS I imagine) would be a bit naff? Unless there are some other nice badge tools we could build on (other than those 2003-esque rectangles ;)

CSS3 'could' open up some possibles of niceness but what each browser would see at this point could be different from what you actually see. Would work for nice simple stuff across 'most' with text-shadow, shadowing, rounding and so on - IE of any form would be the pain on the pretty for some of these.
Well it would certainly be on my list of needed add ons.
I was hoping to find more useful things like this here, and more active development. Maybe we can get some more developers involved so we can start turning buddypress into a really powerful system.
The badge system for Digital Point forums is pretty good, and pretty lightweight. It's based on the VB forum users, but it's all PHP so I'm sure something similar could be done here. If you're looking for more ideas, go look at the rest of the features of the latest release of vBulletin. It's kind of made me wish I bought vb instead, but I just keep telling myself that the blog platform is better and that wordpress is much easier for the users to learn to create their own websites, etc...

Badges would have to be easy for site admins to load. Maybe 2-3 badges in a couple of sizes, similar to your affiliate banners.
Can't be too complicated...

I'm curious if any other members like this idea. Anyone?
Thanks,

I like it.
Badge is an easy way to "spread the Word" :)

LinkedIn has a great "button-maker" page too.
This seems like such a critical feature that every other network seems to offer. I'm wondering why people aren't getting behind this more :(
Is it he name? Maybe it should be called "custom buttons"

I'm not really sure but it definitely doesn't seem to be too popular.
Thanks,

I'm still not sure what a badge "maker" is? The twitter example above seems to be just some graphics and links.
Certainly nothing that can't be knocked up manually and put on a standard WP page, or am I missing something here?
Edit: It's v.late / v.early here, so I probably am.

I found this plugin recently, did anyone try it?
