Hey all...
I've recently run into some issues with HostGator... they have continued to become less and less customer oriented. To the point now where I would like to start seeking out a new host all together.
Since the vast majority of my customers enjoy the use of WordPress - I'm hoping to find a host that really "Kicks Ass" when it comes to hosting WordPress. Any suggestions?

Well, to be completely honest - the site will need to be able to support up to 80,000 members. Obviously that will be a ways down the road - and a best case scenario. To begin with - I'm hoping it will support up to a couple thousand members. HostGator was charging 25/month which is fine for now as well.
Not sure why budget matters... either they're a good host, or not.

Hi BigCat,
That I've seen, WordPress-focused hosts often do charge more for their services, as they're specialized in WordPress sites. There are some members here who specialize in that, hopefully they'll stop in with a few words/links.
I can recomment Synhosting. I've never had any issues with them, which I can't say about the 4-5 hosts I've used before that. I use the semi-dedicated service.

Hey BigCat
With such expected numbers then I would look at a VPS minimum or a dedicated server but that becomes much more expensive. With so many, you might also want to look into CDN hosting as well.
I would stay away from free hosts and unlimited hosts (unlimited space, unlimited bandwidth) its a myth and when you use to *to many resources* they will turn your site off and ask you to upgrade or find a new host. You will find horror stories in these forums and many others.
Some of the guys who frequent these forums also provide hosting. ;-)

Budget does matter, cheap services are often cheap for a reason. Not saying that expensive hosts are always better but you will find you get what you pay for.

Can I ask what it was they did or did not do? I'm just being nosey! :-)

What's the size of your site/sites and your budget?

Here's one in specific though, as listed in our previous recommendation page:

I'll check with some of the other guys over here as I think they'll have some good recommendations.

@BigCat http://wpengine.com/pricing/ I think the SPORT PACKAGE $49 will work for you for the mean time .
I run my Dedicated Server at Softlayer $364 Pm they do have deals starting at about $159 Pm
I would advise you to go with WP Engine as they do the hard work for you if you go with SoftLayer you have to fix every thing your self
I hope this helps
