When installed the ultimate facebook plugin causes the following error:
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'TYPE=MyISAM' at line 9 on line: 1473
And it keeps on returning when I install new plugins. Wordpress is updated to its latest version on this site and it is on the same server as my other ultimate facebook plugin install, which does not give me that error. (Though that was an installation from scratch to 3.4.1)

Hey there!
Are you by any chance running the WordPress Automatic Upgrade Plugin?
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/cant-activate-plugin-2
If not then I would suggest looking for another plugin conflict. Deactivate all of the plugins and reactivate one by one to see if there is one that triggers this specifically. If not I would suggest repairing your database, as stated in the referenced thread.
Looking forward to your response!

Now there is an educated guess! ;-)
Yes, I did run the WP automatic update plugin as WP didn't update automatically back when I started this site. Deactivated that and now it all works fine. :-)
