Hi everyone,
I just bought this plugin (domain mapping), and I must say I could really do with some help. Here's the situation:
I have a master domain name, like mymasterdomainename.com which contain my company website. BUT, this address is not used. The one that is used is like seconddomain.com, but it's pointing in an invisible way to the first one.
I have a subdomain on my master one, blogs.mymasterdomain.com, containing the wordpress multisite installation, with sub-directories ( blogs.mymasterdomain.com/blog1 ; blogs.mymasterdomain.com/blog 2 etc.)
I need to create subdomains on the second domain.com (which is already a redirection) which would be blog1.seconddomain.com, but obviously pointing to the good directory of the master domain name...
Please, let me know if this isn't clear, but I must admit that I am a bit lost myself in the way I should proceed. How do I do that ?
As anyone ever experienced something like that ? I'm sorry if somebody has already posted on that topic, I don't even know what to look for !
In any case, thanks a lot, any help is welcomed :-)

Hiya!
I'm honestly a bit confused as to what domains you have and where they point.
Can you provide, in very straight forward bullet points, the following please;
- what domains you have
- where those domains point to
- where you want them to point to
- lesiteducube.com (not used for communication, but "contains" the website)
- lecube.com (the "official" one, pointing to the first and used to communicate)
- blogs.lesiteducube.com (root of wordpress multisite)
- blogs.lesiteducube.com/video
- blogs.lesiteducube.com/fictions-paralleles
- blogs.lesiteducube.com/studios-mycube
What I want:
- video.lecube.com ( for blogs.lesiteducube.com/video)
- fictions-paralleles.lecube.com (for blogs.lesiteducube.com/fictions-paralleles)
- etc.

Greetings tony.tiratay :-)
thank you for your detailed description which certainly helps to get to the bottom of your sites problem.
First and foremost the main problem is staring right in the face .....
blogs.lesiteducube.com (root of wordpress multisite)
For this to work right the wordpress root install cannot be in a sub directory. It needs to be in the root directory of the domain i.e. lesiteducube.com
Once that issue is worked out you should find all will work much better.
Well, I'd love to, but the root of lecube.com already contains the website of the company, since 10 years :) Besides, we have already built some blogs in the past, using the structure blog.lecube.com (not a Wordpress multisite version of course), that's why we wanted to keep that structure.
Could you explain me why it is not possible ? So I can explain it to my direction.

Greetings Phil & tony.tiratay :-)
well sir I considered the fact that the person started by stating that they bought the Domain Mapping plugin in which I based my comment that it will not work in the sub directory :-)
Of course Word Press itself will install and run in a sub directory, however, what good is a Multi Site install or Domain Mapping in a sub directory if it cannot be used?

@tony The two examples I gave won't be possible because they'd be a sub-site of a sub-site, which Multisite doesn't allow for.
@Joe You can use domain mapping in that scenario, it'd just require that the server is configured to allow mapped domains to point to blogs.lesitedlecube.com

Greetings Phil :-)
as in *.blogs.lesitedlecube.com or are we both considering two different things?
After re-reading your reply more then once I am sure we are talking from two different scenarios :-)
Your basically referring to the fact that you can use the domain mapping plugin to map domains to the blogs.lesitedlecube.com - but as you explained to Tony not sub site of a sub site as I showed directly above in my *.blogs.lesitedlecube.com example :-)
Thanks Phil :-) I never considered that folks were not doing sub sites and that they were not doing Multi Sites which is certainly and obviously an "ASS U ME" problem on my part ..... lol

Hi, thanks for your quick answer !
I'll do my best to be clearer...
I already have:
- lesiteducube.com (not used for communication, but "contains" the website)
- lecube.com (the "official" one, pointing to the first and used to communicate)
- blogs.lesiteducube.com (root of wordpress multisite)

- blogs.lesiteducube.com/studios-mycube
What I want:
- video.lecube.com ( for blogs.lesiteducube.com/video)
- fictions-paralleles.lecube.com (for blogs.lesiteducube.com/fictions-paralleles)
- etc.
Am I clear enough ?
Thanks again !

Hold on there Joe!
It isn't installed in a subdirectory, it's at the root of blog.lesitedcube.com which is fine.
However, that does mean that this;
isn't possible.
You would be better off moving your Multisite to be installed at the root of lecube.com and using a sub-domain set up.
It really doesn't need to be any more complicated than that.
Thanks

Ok everybody,
First, thanks for your reactivity !
I explained the problem to my manager, and we'll buy a domain name for the blogs.
So thanks again for your help.
