I put together a site for a client with 10 authors, he wants people to be able to subscribe to authors post by email, so if they only want say the #3 author, they would only get updates from his or her post instead of all blog post.
I found this plugin but its for rss feed by author.. Anyone know of another plugin that allows someone to subscribe by email per author..
Subcribe2 looks like it will allow the person to select categories but they have to be registered user of the site..
The only plugin I've found is Post Notification ( http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/post-notification/ ) which is based on the same plugin as Subscribe2 but hasn't been updated :( Will be interesting to see if anyone knows of one with this type of functionality?
I'm wondering if it is worth taking an alternative approach to solve this one and use a 3rd party service. For example, since you have an RSS feed for each author you could set up Feedburner subscription for each RSS feed and use Feedburner to manage the email subscription ( http://theedublogger.com/2010/01/26/setting-up-feedburner-rss-and-email-subscription-for-your-blog/ ). While it is a bit messier it does mean you'll be able to easily monitor both email and RSS subscriber numbers for each author; and can manage the email subscription list.
