Hi,
We get quite a few suspended payment emails from pay pal subscriptions. Do you know what this means? Do you know if members will be automatically removed from the site when a payments profile is suspended for what ever reason?
Cheers
Paul

Hi,
I've been looking into this more and its doesn't look like the users are removed if the payment is suspended. The bigger problem is the emails for their paypal account do not necessarily match up to the email they used to register with wordpress and if the name also does not match up with the username then there is no way to remove them from the site leaving us with users with access but we receive no payments.
Would you be able to help with this at all ?
Cheers

Paul,
I do not think there is any way to require your users to match their PayPal info to their registration info. I can understand your issue though, my paypal account is under an old email addy I use for subscriptions to sites and the name is my husbands. You'd have a hard time finding me if I signed up.
The only thing I can suggest is that you be sure you do not check "Enable Incomplete Signups".
I've asked the developer to stop in and comment, incase I've missed something. There very well could be something I'm missing.
Best,
Kimberly

Hi Kimberly,
Thanks for getting back to me. I'm more concerned that the members whos payments are suspended are not removed from the site and since there is now way to match them up I can not do it manually. I've just had a thought though. I think I should be able to cancel suspended payments through paypal and then hopefully the membership plugin will automatically remove the subscription from that member.
I would like to hear what Barry has to say on this topic.
Any news on Pay Pal pro? It's been coming soon for way more that soon now! Sorry to keep harping on about it but I'm pretty sure it would make a big difference to us :)
Cheers

I'll be interested to see what Barry has to say on it as well.
As for PayPal Pro, I have no idea, we've been doing some minor fixes that have taken some time on this plugin, so I dunno what has progressed on that front.

Hi Kimberly,
Would it be possible for you to find out what the situation is with paypal pro? It would be a big step forward for us I think. I have a much better understanding of what is going on with suspended payments now.
A suspended payment is when a customer has insufficient funds, there card is expired, they have reach there paypal limit before they need to verify or any other reason that would stop the funds coming out of there account. There is no way for the customer to suspend a payment and it is not a cancellation. You can try to restart payments and set each reoccurring payment profile to have more that 1 failure before its suspended and you can also set it to add a missed payment to the next date the payment is due. Once you have received the outstanding balance you can choose to reactivate the profile. So its right that the plugin does not remove uses with suspended payment profiles.
With paypal pro though there are no suspended payments as its dealt with by the bank i think. So they would automatically try to re debit the account when the money is there. I also think paypal pro would increase conversion rates and decrease cancellation rates as you don't have to send out invoice each month. (something not needed in my opinion unless its business to business).
Cheers
