I am new to WPMU but not at all new to regular Wordpress. I am now playing with Nelo and Triden themes trying to decide which one I will use for my site. Other than the screen shots provided, is there a showcase available of how the Dixi, Triden & Nelo themes are being used (to provide some creative synergy)? I am having a really difficult time trying to come up with something unique.
Any links or suggestions?

Well for ideas, you can look at the promote your mu subforum on the mu forums:

Just realize that you;re not going to see perfection, you're probably going to see a lot of sites no longer being maintained or even gone, and on the recent ones you're going to see a lot of buddypress.
Andrea has a list on her tutorial site as well.
To be honest, we just role out a modified Basic Mu theme (edit: Which now has completely disappeared. Oh well.) as the home theme with a txt file on suggestions on what to change and how to do it.
I've been working on an idea I saw on the woothemes site recently with a number of modifications.

One thing you may want to consider is what you want on your home page. I know a lot of installs display a list of latest posts. I personally think that wile that's a good idea on a non-public site, doing it on a "Anyone can sign up" site just lists "Hello World" posts and spammers that you haven't caught yet. Kind of a bad impression if you ask me.
Andrea wrote up a walk though of the wp.com page if you want some ideas:

And I bitched about placing adverts on the front page:

Hope this helps,

drmike,
Our site will be a non-profit site. It will be used primarily for fundraising purposes. Our blogs will be in the form of individual fundraisers (rasing money for charitable causes). It will not be an "anyone can create a blog" type site.
