I haven't installed yet but I'm curious, are there threaded topics possible in the Forum Plugin?
Thanks.

Hi wecreateyou,
Good question, and sorry for the delay in responding here, had to take down then re-setup a multisite to test this with, as I couldn't recall whether it was multi-threaded or not.
And as it turns out it's not multi-threaded. Responses run downward in a single thread as illustrated here.
Hope that helps!

I'd like to add this as a feature suggestion... I really think these forums (WPMUdev) could use greatly benefit as well.
Thanks DavidM

Oh, I think I misunderstood you there, sorry if so! If you're referring to the forums here, they're actually based on bbPress, the original standalone version, and for that matter, I didn't really even notice whether they were threaded or not.
Threads in these forums could potentially add a layer of complexity to support requests but also would provide a neat way to interact in discussions. I'll ask a couple of the the other guys over here what thoughts they might have on it.
Cheers,
David

Actually you got it right. I was asking about the plugin... but I thought this forum was running the "Forum" plugin, but as you say it's bbPress. I really want them so I'll have to look elsewhere.
I completely understand the point about support and threaded forums.
Since I think we need a way to be more social I'm suggesting...
1. A chat room for people with at least 100 points.
2. A Wiki that can only be posted to if you have 1000 points. The type of stuff a Lifetime member could document in a wiki would have huge benefits for WPMUdev and it's community.
3. Private Instant Messaging!
4. Bonus suggestion (drum roll) ... Maybe just try communities plugin for a trial period see how it goes...

Hiya,
I think the forums plugin is really targeted at a simple solution to adding forums to a site without the bloat of bbPress. For anything more, bbPress really is a much better alternative for serious forum functionality. Hence why we use it here ;)

Hang in there... We've got some social stuff in the works for everyone here. It's gonna be a blast, just need more time to get it completed :)
