what exactly is the difference between this widget and the one that comes with the Recent Global Comments Feed plugin? The Recent Global Comments Feed says:
A Recent Global Comments feed widget is added to Appearance > Widgets of your main site.

Recent Global Comments widget is a local widget that pulls the information directly out of the database.
Recent Global Comments Feed widget uses a RSS feed so can be placed on another site and will pull the comments via RSS from the main global site.
