Hi again,
I am wondering if you could help me?
I am developing a site with frame/gridmarket/marketpress and it's at the moment locally installed under MAMP. I have solicited some help, but this requires porting the work-so-far onto a windows7 machine.
Exporting the database is fine, zipping the public_html folder is fine, putting it onto the windows machine is fine. After deleting all the usual ._* files, the website wakes up just fine, bar one thing: all the pages under the links have disappeared. When I hover over the link it shows the right link, but when I click on it, it simply says "object not found."
I have tried deactivating plugins, I have tried deleting .htaccess, resetting permalinks, re-copying the public_html folder and reimporting the database ... all to no avail.
I would be very grateful for any help.
Thanks

Hey there.
Which links? Blogroll links?
Do all posts and pages load on the frontend?
Let me know.
Take care

. . . . I should add that they all do show up in the pages link in the dashboard though; however even there I can't see them. I can bring them up with the headline, but content is lost and I can't preview/view them.
I have also since found out, that when I put the permalinks to the default settings, almost all the pages (all the product categories with their subcats and individual pages) bar three (products, order status and shopping cart) are working. I do get an error message about pretty permalinks, but after clicking it a few times, it sometimes goes away. When I switch back to another permalink structure other than the default one all the pages under the links disappear again.
thanks
J.

Hey there.
So we are not talking about the blogroll links here then?
We are talking about permalink. Plugins like MarketPress really need those permalinks so it won't work for you in default.
Do you have URL Rewrite on and enabled?
http://www.iis.net/download/URLRewrite
Its like mod rewrite for apache but for windows. Without it you won't get permalinks.
And another link which might be useful for using WP on Windows:
http://www.microsoft.com/web/wordpress/
Take care.

Hi Timothy,
just a quick "big thank you" for the info and the links. It was indeed URL rewrite that was disabled in the apache config file. That and throwing .htaccess away again and saving another file did it.
Thanks again.
