Hi!
I love Signup Code but I wanted to know if you knew of a plugin that will not send an activation code until the admin approves the user registration?
I used to use BuddyPress Registration Options (bp-registration-options) but now that I've udpated to 3.4.1 and 1.5.6 it does not work.
Thanks,
Giovanni

Adding to this.
Do you know of a plugin where you cannot register unless:
- you receive a signup code
- you've been invited by a current member
Thank you,
Giovanni

Goodday @Giovanni
I think the same answer I gave to your other question will work to answer this question as well. Try this plugin out:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wordpress-mu-secure-invites/installation/
I think it answers BOTH questions. Wow, two problems solved with a single plugin? Who'dathunkit??

Thanks.
Unfortunately this plugin does not work with the latest version of Buddypress and wordpress. =/

O.K. Giovanni.
This is a little more complex (translated more steps), but it might work.
First, refer to this article on WPMU.org by Sarah Gooding:
http://wpmu.org/daily-tip-restrict-wordpress-registration-with-invitation-codes/
Then, hide your BP signup form using the instructions in the "Rename the Default Registration Slug" section of this article on WPTuts:
http://wp.tutsplus.com/tutorials/security/best-practices-for-preventing-buddypress-spam-user-registrations/
Then, I would create a custom form to "request" membership in the website. That form (I would use Gravity Forms personally, but I have a developer license for it) would allow someone to submit their info to you with you asking whatever information you would like to ask. If you approved their application for membership, then you could send them the code referenced in Sarah's article and they could then join the site.
For some, just hiding the signup form by renaming the slug is sufficient to accomplish their objective. In my case, since I use Genesis, I use a plugin that hides the page (not just renames it) and it can only be accessed by the direct link to it.
Now, I have NOT used this plugin so I don't know if it can be configured like you would want it to work, but give it a try as well:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/invite-anyone/
Good luck. I'm hoping the developers of secure invites will update the plugin - it works flawlessly when it works.

Invite Anyone is great to send emails to lots of people to go to the site. You can provide the invite code on the email sent, but that's it.
I wish bp-registration-options would be updated ...
You want to get hired for doing the stuff above? I'm busy to relearn this stuff.
Let me know.
Thanks,
Giovanni

Ok, started trying it but the problem with this is that it gets too complicated/lot of work.
That means that I would have to go in and send an email to new applicants with the registration link ...
I rather have a list of users that applied, and select one or all via checkboxes, click a button, and it approves them and sends an email with the approval message.
Thanks.

Good day @Giovanni.
I was afraid that it was too much work. As I said, I had never used it so I wasn't sure how simply it worked. I agree, it would be so much simpler to just have a list and check off who you approved. Then, maybe click a "Send Approval" button or something and it would send out an approval email with code to everyone.
The BP side is sorely lacking now that the developer of my original recommendation has not updated his plugin. I keep hoping they have not dropped it, but instead are just busy updating it.
Good luck and post back if you find anything that works - we'd all love to hear. I'll also keep this thread tagged and post back if I happen to find something.
Have a productive week.

Greetings Giovanni,
You could see if there is a developer available at wpmu jobs who could get onto it right this minute.
Cheers, Joe :-)
