User Can't Upload Files

Thanks in advance for any help here ...

I'm working on a fresh WPMU install and just added the latest 100 theme pack. One user cannot upload any custom header images, or add files to their media library. They receive the following error:

"The uploaded file could not be moved to the upload folder."

Other users can customize headers and add images with no problems.

When this user's blog was created, we did an import of their old WP blog uploaded all their files and fixed the image links. At the time, they were not a supporter and the space limit was 25MB, way below their 187MB. Since then, however, I have installed the Support plugin and extended Supporter status to this user with 1GB of space. But they still cannot upload.

Any thoughts?

Clarification: The supporter plugin was added and this blog was extended supporter status after they had clearly surpassed the space allocation due to us uploading all their files. Their account now says that they are only using 18% of their upload space, but hey still can't upload.

Is there another way to determine if the supporter plugin is functioning properly, or anything I can check in the db for this user?

Thanks!

Hiya,

If the users couldn't upload additional files due to being over their limit they would be getting a different error.

Check the permissions on the blogs.dir directory for that blog.

Thanks,
Andrew

Permissions for blogs.dir and all user directories therein are set to 777. Digging deeper, I discovered permissions for the current month's uploads (04) were set to 755. I changed that and uploads now work!

But will they next month? I don't understand why this directory was created with 755 permissions when other users have uploaded files, creating directories set to 777. Other month directories for this user did have 777 permissions.

How did you upload their old files?

Thanks,
Andrew

FTP. I'm just hoping I neglected to set permissions on that directory, otherwise I don't know why it would be different than the others.

Thanks for the quick replies. I just signed up for the year yesterday and am already impressed with your response time ... but I've got a lot more questions in the works! ;-)

If I had to guess I'd say that's exactly what happened. Since no other users seem to be affected I'd just consider it fixed for now.

Thanks,
Andrew
