When new users create their new profiles it gives them the option to create their own password. How come it still generates a random password then for users and emails it to them?

Tried that, you can still register through the site, it just doesn't send a confirmation email to the user, or their password, so basically the user would be stuck as unverified.

Hi femphocus,
Just checking if it was eventually resolved in another thread? Or by yourself separately to us? Or by us over email with you? Or using our live support?
If so, no need to reply, that's great news.
If not, could you let us know by re-opening this topic, and we'll get onto it and helping you out asap!

Hiya!
Have you made sure you've turned off registration in General > Settings?

Actually, just received the confirmation email, about 1 hour later, but it still sends a randomly generated password.

Hmm that's not right, that sounds like the normal registration is kicking in....
Let me ask Barry about this and we'll get back to you.
