Hi and thanks for responding. I would like to add YouTube videos and flash videos plus make sure the members have the ability to add videos and pics. I am new at buddypress and I am not sure what plugins will work and what to avoid.
If you are familiar with Wordpress, there would not be much of a difference for BuddyPress. The plugin Phil recommended is one I have used often as well for YouTube videos. Have played around with several Flash plugins but seems like there is always a little customization needed for them to work well on all browsers.
To be blunt, I have found it best for me to HTML everything.
Also, if you did not know, Vimeo works hand in hand with Wordpress. If you just enter the Url of a Vimeo video it embeds it.
However you set it up, offering tutorials for users is usually the bigger task!
What I am looking to do is, how do the participants of the site insert their own videos onto page or into a reply? In the for instance if you go to an SMF forum you have clickable links to insert items into your reply or to start a thread. How is this managed here in the buddypress Social Theme?
Appreciate the help.
Ray
Sounds like you would want to run forums within the theme that allow links/videos/etc. Or are you saying that they would compose a page or a post and in the comments section of wordpress you would want them to be able to embed html and more?
If you are just asking about putting a youtube video on a post or a page, just put the URL for the video on it's own line and wordpress will automatically embed the video. No plugin required.
Hi and thanks for the response. What I would like to do is when someone forms a group and everyone can comment on anything. If someone wants to post a video they could post in the url but when it is clicked it takes them to youtube to watch the video. Is there a way to embed the video in the response section. It does not make sense to take them away from the site to view it. The embed code does not work in the response area.
Eric thank you very much that is exactly what I was looking for. When I searched for plugins I used the term buddypress and was going through a ton looking for something. Thanks again for your help.

Hiya!
I've always found easytube easy to use: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/easytube/
It just works with a shortcode, like this;

Cheers!
