oh and here is another great tool, unfortunately the author doesn't seem very cooperative when I asked about some specific features for multisite.
how about a tool that does this all:
Enforces strong password policies; provides emergency lockdown features; monitors login attempts; blocks hacker IP addresses; and logs out idle users
Login Lock provides a number of security enhancing features:
Enforces strong password selection policies.
Monitors login attempts.
Blocks IP addresses for too many failed login attempts.
Lets you manually unblock IP addresses at any time.
Lets you forcibly log out all users immediately and require that they all change their passwords before logging back in.
Lets you forcibly log out idle users after a configurable number of minutes.
Emergency Lock Down
If your site is ever hacked then you probably need to make sure the intruder is forced to logout and is no longer able to log back in to your site.
Unfortunately the plugin only makes sense if the siteadmin can do all these things centrally. there isn't really any need to make these features available to blog users/admins...
maybe, if you guys like it, someone can mod it into your security pack?
Hi there, the http://plugins.paidtoblog.com/wpmu-power-tools/ link is going to a generic page. Anyone know if that page was moved to a different location? Would love to know more about this plugin. Thanks!

Hi Ovidiu,
I'll have to bookmark this thread for when people are having trouble with spam, which happens often enough around here. Many thanks for sharing! :)

Here is the plugin: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/login-lock/ and here my discussion with the plugin author: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-login-lock-multisite-capable?replies=5
