I have set up WPMU and everything seems to be working fine except for a weird inconsistency when I click on the Create a New Blog link.
1. On my work computer I get a 404 page not found error, although sometimes when I continue on to another web page and then hit the back button with my browser I can see the page (that previously displayed 'page not found').
2. But on my home computer when I click on Create a New Blog I can see the new create a new blog page although in the top of the browser it says 'Page not found' next to the name of the Blog.
3. Both situations happen in both Firefox and IE
4. However, when I add a new blog from within the main admin site everything works fine.
Can you give me some direction on how to correct this?

Got a link please?
Anything in the webserver's error logs?
Any cache program installed like wp-super-cache?
Is the 404 being generated by the webserver or your browser?
Nothing comes to mind right off unless the link's not being generated correctly. Either that or you;ve got a weird security or server issue at work. Much like what I have at the library when I'm there.
It's partly GoDaddy. I'm setting one up there and get the same thing on the signup page. Says "page not found" in the top of the browser, yet the rest of the page is fine.
dfreeman - one thing I'm going to try is editing my template (Kubrick based I think) to make sure the header.php doesn't have that message so it won't get displayed. Also, check the 404 template in the theme folder. Might try removing it.
I'm just getting started so maybe this will stop or the problem will reveal itself in the error logs (no luck so far) as I go forward. As long as the site is working I won't worry about it.

Here is the link: http://clearprofiles.com.
I have to turn on lo error tracking with my hosting company (GoDaddy) and that will take a moment.
Thank,

Ditto. Works for me.
Again, where's the 404 coming from? Mu, webserver or browser?

Actually I just noticed that the title for the wp-signup.php page is labeled "Page not found" but the page does get generated.
I just tried the same on my testbed but I can't dupe it.
It is weird.
Hopefully something will kick out in the error logs. Either that or turn on the php error reporting as mentioned in the readme file.
edit: Poking around your site, that's the only page that gives you that title.

Thanks guys.

I'll be sure to post anything I discover.

I'm wondering if the software can;t find a theme file and that's why you;re getting that.
You do still have the default theme in there within the default subdirectory, right?
edit: Damn my typing is bad today.

Yes, plus for what it's worth I did try other themes but still got the same result.

That is strange.
I'd try cranking up error checking all the way and see what you get.

Yeah, I'm really running in to this. two fixes I've found don't work.
Pretty sure it's related to the server. Or it's the 2.7 release.
*sigh*

I duplicated the same issue on MediaTemple's Grid Server.
Any updates on this issue?
