I'm either having a major mental fart, or something has changes since WP 312.
I used to have a yellow box appear in all blog dashboards that fed the most recent post from our main blog. This was NOT a box shown by the Admin Ads, Messages or Tips plugins. It was a larger yellow box that would just show the title of the most recent post from the main blog. I remember at one point setting the feed for which blog posts to show, but I can't for the life of me remember where that setting is!
I forget if it was a WPMU Dev plugin, or a native WP feature. Either way it has gone missing.
Anyone know what I'm talking about, or care to point me in the right direction? After publishing a new post, I noticed the notice was gone from user dashboards. :-\ I've gone through every site and network settings screen and all my plugins. Thnaks in advance for any help.

Or one of the others associated with it? The dashboard feeds widget would let you dictate the main site's feed to all your sub-sites so it'd do the trick. Dunno if it was what you had previously though :)
Thanks but no, I thought of that too. We do use Dashboard Feeds, which replaces the default feeds for new blogs.
I'm beginning to think this was a native WP function which is no more. It would show the most recent post from the specified feed in a yellow box at the top of the dashboard, showing the post title and a dismiss link. I could have sworn the Settings page had the field for entering the RSS, but now it's gone.
Anyone else have any idea what I'm talking about or have I truly gone mad?
FYI: I got the following email notification of this post from dmallonee, but it's not showing here. perhaps it got spammed.
...Could you maybe try pulling down the Screen Options tab (to the left of the Help tab in the Dashboard page) and see if maybe it's been unchecked somehow?
I'll mention it to a few others around here to see if they have any ideas as well.
Thanks for the thought, but nothing is unchecked in the Screen options.
That would be from myself! I posted immediately after Mason with roughly the same information and removed the post to save some confusion. I've seen items go missing with updates on various plugins only to realize the option was simply unchecked in the Screen Options tab, but I guess that's clearly not the case with this one.
My main thought was as Mason's though, that the Dashboard feed would be the closest fit. I'm not sure what else it could be.
Thanks again for the thoughts. Maybe the attached mock screenshot of how user dashboards looked up until recently may ring a bell with someone. After reviewing all the plugins we're using, i can't help but think this was a native WP super admin option that no longer exists.
Can't say I've seen that one before but it certainly looks like a useful one if you've got super-admin control over what goes in the content there. Wouldn't be a custom coded thing, would it?
After reviewing all our current plugins, and any we have used over the past year, I swear this must have been a native WP super admin feature. Could have sworn it was on the Options page before settings got moved to "Network Admin". I posted in the WP forums a few days ago but have received no replies.
UPDATE: So, I asked this question on the WP forums and one member confirmed that the "Dashboard Feed" was indeed a native Super Admin option that disappeared with a recent WP update. [sigh]
That's awesome! I just left a message on the blog and will link to it elsewhere as it's a cool little plugin. Thanks for updating and posting that too! :)

Hiya!
Maybe using this plugin:
http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/dashboard-feeds

Thanks!

He wrote what looks like a relatively easy solution for hacking core files to show most recent posts form the main blog in user dashboards across the network, but a plugin to do this would sure be handy... hint, hint.

UPDATE: Apparently Piet at wpti.ps has released a plugin to replace the Dashboard Feed option. Haven't tried it yet, but hope to test it soon.
