Actually the multiple database plugin got updated this month. (Well updated in April. May's just started.)
I believe James is working on another theme release as well.
edit: Andrew also said somewhere that he was planning on adding in hooks to buddypress for the avatars.

Rumor has it that somewhere out there, there's a plugin that filters on post and page content and sends the site admin an email when a match occurs.
Boy, sure would be nice to see that plugin uploaded somewhere. Yes sir re bob. (How ever you spell that.) Sure would be nice. Great way to catch splogs.
