Would be interesting to have a good article on WPMU.ORG about the www and non-www usage. When I was having problems once it's pretty hard to search using the terms www and non-www.
Unless someone has another good article on it and tips on how it relates and interacts with Wordpress/Google etc?

That's the thing. I really have no idea how any of it works. I only learned that it mattered when there were plugins that only worked one way or the other. I also had problems with sitemaps and found code somewhere on how to edit the .htaccess file. This is something that is obviously set up once and typically not touched again. But what if you need to? Where do you do it? How do you do it? What will it affect if you make the changes?
As far as google is concerned www vs non www is simply cosmetic. There is no SEO benefit to either, it is just personal preference. Google webmaster tools gives you the ability to choose a preference for the style you use on your site if you are concerned about how Google might interact with your choice ... Same goes for WP, I believe WP defaults to non-www, but you can change that with no effect on how WP operates ...

Hmm that's not a bad idea. Were you thinking of something to show how to switch from one to the other or set up .htaccess properly?
