Content monitor is the ideal plugin for you to use if you are looking for a simple, straightforward and yet comprehensive way of monitoring what's happening on your site.

Essentially, the plugin will send you an email if a post or page is published containing words that you define.

So, this would be useful for:

  • Educational sites where you want to be notified if someone is using bad language
  • Keeping track for common spam words so you can keep your site nice and clean
  • Getting alerted when someone mentions you or the site so you can offer support
  • A host of other cool things...

Simply upload this plugin to your mu-plugins folder and a new Content Monitor tab is added to your Site Admin menu.

Now all you need to do is decide on the words and the email address that you want to be notified at, and you'll get pinged every time something bad (or good!) comes up.

Presto! An email is sent with a link to the post or page where the word has been used!

If you are interested in this plugin you'll almost certainly be interested in our Moderation plugin too, an extremely powerful (but also more complex) plugin that allows you to:

  • Moderate all comments and blogs posts regardless of keyword
  • Place posts and comments you don't like into moderation
  • Allocate moderator privileges for users you decide
  • Allow visitors to simply report posts or comments (as you can see below)

report posts and comments

In short, if you want to monitor the content of blogs on your site, WPMU DEV has you covered!
