Select Language At Signup

Wouldn’t it be simply wonderful if you could just drop a heap of language files into /wp-content/languages/ and then let your users select which one they want to use at signup!

Well, now you can, no worries!

First up, just download our Languages
for WordPress MU pack to get going (it’s got 36 languages in it!)

Then, download this little plugin, drop it into wp-content/mu-plugins/ and hey presto!

To install

1. Download the Languages
for WordPress MU pack
2. Unzip the downloaded files to a folder on your hard drive
3. Create a new language folder on your hard drive and add all the .mo
file to your language folder

4. Select the new language folder you created on your computer and drag it into your wp-content
folder on your site

5. Download the plugin file

6. Unzip the Select
Language At Signup file into a folder on your
hard drive

7. Visit Network Admin -> Plugins and Network Activate it there.

Please Note:

Like all plugins that require sql changes, if this doesn’t install automatically (it should) you can run the sql commands yourself using the document provided download

To Use

Once uploaded Select Language at signup is automatically activated for
all new blog sign-ups.

1. Click on Site Admin > Options
2. Select the default language
3. Then click Update Options

Changing language on a per blog basis

Users can override the default language settings and set their own
preferred default language using Settings > General.

1. Click on Setting > General
2. Select the default language under blog language
3. Then click Save Changes
