We currently have a 3 web server load balanced setup. Since we are not sure how a storage requirements are going to grow in the future we need a S3 plugin to allow us to use the blogs.dir / all members files and upload in s3. The files can not be stored locally. We are on a load balanced setup so our choices for local are either nfs or syncing web servers.. So the files can not be stored locally. The tan tan plugin seemed to do a good chunk of what we were looking for. Though it did not seem to work with MU setup. And also the files were stored locally which is not good for our setup. We want the files to be store 100% on S3.. Contact me with questions.
