Getting a Blank Fatal Error When Activating BuddyPress? Try This Quick Hack.

I ran into this issue the other day. After upgrading BuddyPress files, I received this notice when trying to activate BuddyPress again: “Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error” Sounds scary, doesn’t it? I’m not entirely sure what’s causing it. Maybe it’s running into the memory limit? At any rate, after searching the forums, I found this hack that fixed it for me:

1. Create a new file, e.g. bp-loader-fix.php
2. Move the contents of bp-loader.php over except the first comment block
3. Make sure the new file has starting and ending tags, same with bp-loader.php
4. In bp-loader.php, add the following as the last (and now only) php statement

{code type=php}require_once(‘bp-loader-fix.php’);{/code}
