We’ve got some exciting new updates to announce for MarketPress users. Version 2.1 is here with bug fixes and new features. Check it out:
- WP e-Commerce product importer added
- New importer plugin class added for others to easily build importers
- Fix rare bug with permalinks
- Fixes to help prevent other plugins that cache output from breaking downloads
Import your entire store into MarketPress with the click of a button!
Perhaps the most exciting feature for new MarketPress users is the product importer. If you have a store running on WP E-Commerce and would like to switch over to MarketPress, you can now import all of your products with just one click. Sound too good to be true? Check it out:
Install MarketPress on the same installation as your WP E-Commerce store. Go to the MarketPress store settings page and you will see a new tab for importing. Simply click “Import Now” and all the products will be automatically created for you, even the categories, tags, downloadables, and featured images. The only thing it doesn’t yet capture are variations.
I tested the importer on a very large store with over 1,000 products and it worked perfectly – it didn’t even time out! If you’ve wanted to switch to MarketPress but didn’t want to spend hours and hours re-creating your products, there’s no reason to hesitate anymore. You can move your entire store in a matter of minutes.
The best news is that all of these updates are available in the free version MarketPress. Watch for it – it should be hitting the WordPress plugin repository today.
