Sneak Peek: Screenshots of the New Twenty Eleven Theme for WordPress 3.2

After receiving Jane Well’s invitation for anyone to check out the Twenty Eleven theme, I installed the WordPress Beta Tester plugin and upgraded to the 3.2 bleeding edge so I could take a peek. I thought our readers might be interested to have a look without the hassle of going through this whole process.

Though it’s based on the Duster theme from Automattic, you can see that it’s shaping up to have its own unique look:

Twenty Eleven will come with both a light and a dark option. Here’s a screenshot of the dark version:

Here’s a screenshot of the theme options page, as it appears currently:

These options will make the default WordPress theme more modular, in that you’ll be able to easily change your layout without having to touch the CSS.

I was excited to see that Twenty Eleven doesn’t look exactly like the Duster theme. I think it’s more aesthetically pleasing and will provide a nice clean slate as a base for child themes. Checking out the progress on the theme so far makes me much more excited about all that is coming in WordPress 3.2. What are you thoughts? Do you like how the new default theme is shaping up?
