WordPress Problem? Let WPMU DEV Log In To Your Site & Fix It Up!
WPMU DEV has had a dashboard plugin since 2009, so it’s almost five years old!
And yes, you’d be right in saying that initially it wasn’t the most popular thing we’ve ever done. OK, you wouldn’t just be right, you’d be overwhelmingly accurate.
But, bear with me, because I think you’ll find the 2014 dashboard a very, very different experience to the 2009 one. First up it no longer has annoying features like showing to clients (only shows to admins or super admins on Multisite) and non-dismissible nags (you can control everything you like now, especially dismissing them) or any of that other annoying stuff.
Perhaps most importantly though it now comes with an absolute heap of awesome features, some of which I realised the other day we’ve never really told you about, so without further ado enjoy the new video and/or read on:
WPMU DEV developers and expert support staff can actually log into your site and fix stuff up!
Yep, it is what it says on the tin.
At WPMU DEV we don’t only support our own products, we offer support for any WordPress issue, and they can often get pretty tricky.
Back in the day this involved complex emails, safety & trust issues and so on… but these days our staff will just ask you to grant temporary access via the dashboard, and they’ll be able to fix you up.
And, as you can see on the image we also generate system info, let you track your other support requests and access all the instructional materials for our plugins from the same support menu.
Auto upgrade in the background? Yes please!
If you’re WordPress configuration is setup to allow background updates then you can turn them on with us too.
How cool is that, all of your plugins seamlessly updating in the background – security, compatibility and stability all taken care of without having to think about it.
Of course, you can also upgrade with one click too, checking out the updates and other documentation as you do so
One click install and configuration
Installing WPMU DEV plugins is stupendously easy.
And you never need to leave your dashboard for support
You can get support, track your tickets and even post to the community without ever leaving your WordPress install.
We think it’s kinda neat.
And there’s more to come…
We’re always working on how we can improve your experience as a WPMU DEV member using the dashboard and there are always a few more things in the works.
But we hope, fundamentally, that it’s moved from being ‘annoying’ to it’s original purpose which was and remains to give you an awesome experience as a WPMU DEV member.
Any feature requests feel free to post them to support via the dashboard, or leave them as a comment below :)
