ACF Field Pulled Through To PostSlider

Hello,

So I have created a custom field in CustomPress for a post type, I would now like to pull this 'field' into the Exceprts in a Post Slider (Visual Composer).

Thanks,
Aaron

    Hello Aron-

You can add custom fields anywhere VIA shortcode input. You can do this through a text editor or in the back-end on a PHP file where you want the custom field to be placed. You will need to choose the custom field in question and click on "Embed Code". The options to embed the custom field will now be available. See image below:

    Hi Ken,

The custom field isn't coming through the excerpt at all.

Alright - So I have a custom post type called "Testimonials", to which I have added custom field called 'Testimonial Artist': https://cl.ly/1q0s3t3d3z3O

Which when I view the post - It seems to work and comes through https://cl.ly/0Q3e3j2E0l3R

but when I am bring the testimonails through to the front page using a post slider (Visual composer) its dropping the custom field or 'Testimonial Artist' https://cl.ly/2r1m0V3A3z26

It seems like its only pulling through the paragraphs or <p>'s - Which won't work because I want to style them seperately so it wont let me add a class to a paragraph, or use H Tags, Spans etc to style them seperately and thats what I was hoping that the custom field would give me.

    Hello Aron-

The custom field has an ID selector in the shortcode, and child elements could be grabbed from the ID and styled to your liking. Could you provide a current link to where the problem is, so I can view the site and further access?

Could you please grant us temporary support access to your website so we can have a better look of your setup and settings? You can grant us access via WPMUDEV Dashboard plugin, there's no need to share credentials. Here's our detailed documentation page about it:
    https://premium.wpmudev.org/docs/getting-started/getting-support/#chapter-4

We'll wait for your confirmation reply here, as we don't get any notification when a member is granting us support access. We could then dig in and further investigate this!

    Hello Aaron-

There does seem to be an incompatibility issue with the slider widget for Visual Composer and our CustomPress plugin. If you look on a single post page the custom field data shows as expected. It is also wrapped in a paragraph tag. While we don't offer a way to add a class to the shortcode, you could always wrap the shortcode in a div tag and access the the descendant paragraph tag that way and then style it.

You could also try creating a custom post type of Testimonials through our CustomPress plugin and make your testimonial posts through there. Then see if the Visual Composer slider widget pulls the data from the post correctly.

Let us know how we can help!
