Adding a Info box to Wiki

To who this may concern,

I am currently trying your premium wiki plugin and testing all of its features. I was wondering if it was possible to create an editable info box similar to what most wikipedia articles have. (For example, this one has a info box on the side: ). Would it be possible to add this kind of functionality?

Thank you in advance.

    Hello there @Angrydrabbit and welcome to the WPMU-DEV Community!

    The problem with adding an automated way to do this is that each wiki article has completely different content there! Some have images, some have custom fields (like Developer, Publisher etc in your example).

    The way I've seen others implement such a feature is to simply add the appropriate markup when editing the post.
    For example you could add something like this at the top of your post:
    <div class="wiki-info-box">The content of the info box here</div> (please note that you'll have to use the text editor and not the visual editor to properly add this)
    and add something like the following in your theme's stylesheet:

    .wiki-info-box {
      padding: 15px;
      background: #dedede;
      border: #aaa;
      float: right;

    I hope that helps!
    I am marking this issue as resolved.
    If however you find that the above solutions doesn't work for you or you need any further instructions/clarifications, don't hesitate to reopen it and post an update.

    Fantastic way to handle it, Ari!

    For anyone interested, here's a shortcode version to make it easier to use in the visual editor:

    function wiki_info_box( $atts, $content = null ) {
    	return '<div class="wiki-info-box">' . $content . '</span>';
    add_shortcode( 'wiki-info-box', 'wiki_info_box' );

    With that added to a theme's functions.php file or added through Code Snippets:

    Adding an info box is as simple as wrapping visual editor content like so:

    info box content

    That info box CSS could also easily be added using this:

    Hope that helps! Thanks Ari, for the great idea! :slight_smile:
