Advice requested for a new site...

Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to read my request.

I want to move a website I have already in Joomla to WP.
The construction I want to have is:

- a main website where I offer some services (administration and websites installs, etc)
1 . some sub-sites/domains with sites examples with different themes and colors. Where people can have a look to a final designed website I offer to make.
2. kind of shop where customers will be able to buy services and website design services.

So my question ...
Is it better to have a multisite construcion?
or
1 base site plus some sub-sites/domains?

Cheers,

    Hello @mpress,

I hope you're well today and thank you for bringing up an interesting issue here!

As for you dilemma, there are three ways to setup a network like this. First would be to setup a single WordPress install, create subdomains and then in their respective folders create simple sites based on WP engine. You'll find more information about this solution here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Integrating_WordPress_with_Your_Website.

Another way is to setup a bunch of independent WordPress sites, not connected to each other. This, however, is the least useful solution as you'll have to spend a lot of time to keep everything updated, synchronized and running smoothly. Also, it gives you relatively small area for future development and upgrade.

The best way, IMHO, would be to setup a network of sites using WordPress MultiSite install. Pretty much everything you would need to know about it is covered in this article on our blog: https://premium.wpmudev.org/manuals/wpmu-manual-2/. That being said, with some help of our plugins you'll be able to easily append domains or subdomains to your networked sites or even let users to register and create sites of their own! It will be also the most convenient way to manage and update your site(s).

I hope that helps and in case of any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'll be glad to help!

    Cheers,
    Adam

Hey @mpress, thanks for your patience here!

If I understand it correct the first option is also a kind of single sites not connected to each other. Is it correct?

    Yes, that's correct.

From google point of view... which one is better? subsites(folders) or subdomains?

I mean which one is better to get the bestv rank within google?

I would personally advise having a look at this article, as it goes into the differences between subdomains & subdirectories quite nicely:

    Hope this helps!

    Kind Regards,
    Michael
