Hi All!

Just a question if anyone can help:

I live in Asia, and have normal DSL. I am getting a client issued VOIP phone, and want to hide my IP from any users so they basically see my IP as U.S.

Just for security.

Will a normal proxy (I’m going to buy some, I think) hide my IP router address to anyone including the VOIP provider?

    Hi, Mark!

It should, yes. A proxy works by bouncing your signal around to several different locations, essentially creating a (relatively) untraceable route between where you actually are and where it looks like you are. Paid proxies are more reliable here than free ones. The VOIP provider may recognize that you’re using a proxy IP address, but they will not be able to determine your actual IP address. Does that make sense?

Thanks for your question, Mark! Always nice to see you here.
