Appointments+ and Buddypress - How necessary is BP?

I am writing this because I want to know if the appointments+ plugin will still work without buddypress?

I recently discovered that a developer has been editing the template files directly in the buddypress plugin folder, instead of creating a new buddypress folder in my theme directory. How bad is this? What can I do to organize this?

Additionally, how integrated is Appointments+ and Buddypress. I am only using buddypress to allow users to have a profile page that is not in wordpress and customized login page. I have no need for any of the other features - friends, messaging, groups activity etc.

Can I accomplish the custom login page and the custom profile with out buddypress? What Appointments+ functionality will I lose by doing so?

Any help or suggestions would be fantastic.

    Hello @Judah

I hope you are well today and thanks for asking the question.

I am writing this because I want to know if the appointments+ plugin will still work without buddypress?

Yes, the plugin works without BuddyPress, it's not a BuddyPress dependent plugin but integrates with BuddyPress

This is not a good idea at all. When you will update the BuddyPress plugin, all the editing will be lost and you have to make the changes again.

Additionally, how integrated is Appointments+ and Buddypress. I am only using buddypress to allow users to have a profile page that is not in wordpress and customized login page. I have no need for any of the other features - friends, messaging, groups activity etc.

Appointments will be added as a separate profile menu in your BuddyPress system, so it doesn't matter if you have disabled some components

No functionality of Appointments+ will be lost. You can try any front end plugin to have a custom login page, like: https://wordpress.org/plugins/flexible-frontend-login/

You can also try any form plugin: https://formidablepro.com/ or http://www.gravityforms.com/

For profile page, you can try: http://codecanyon.net/item/user-profiles-made-easy-wordpress-plugin/4109874

Hope it helps  Please feel free to ask more question if you have.

    Cheers

    Hi Judah,

Yes, your providers will be able to set their own schedules, this is part of the basic design of apps+, as Ashok mentioned, appointments+ was not built for buddypress, it is a standalone plugin, so whatever apps+ can do with buddypress, it can do on it's own.

You will need to allow service providers to set their own schedules in apps+ settings.

Once enabled, each service provider can then set their schedules by editing their own profile.

You will lose any custom fields that were setup with buddypress if you remove BP, however, with the plugins ashok mention, you can add new custom fields if you wish.

    Hope this helps
