Appointments+ is broken with PHP 5.2.17

I just upgraded my LIVE site to the latest version of Appointments+ and now [app_services description=”content” autorefresh=1] doesn’t work, it shows up as “Show available times”

and clicking it, doesn’t do anything

it works great on my test site that is running PHP 5.4.12

Does it not work with PHP 5.2.17?

Thank you for bringing this to our attention and that would explain some of the bizarre issues you have reported.

I would have to say 5.3+ (5.3.22 to be exact) because that is what I am running it on without any issues that I am aware of. Also is this being run on WordPress 3.5.1?

However, before making such a bold statement as fact I will see if I can get the lead developer in here with his invaluable insight into this plugin for his advice/advise for us.

Though this may take a bit longer then a normal ticket, I will try to get him in here asap.

Hi,

It has nothing to do with php 5.2. I am using php 5.2.17 in one of my test servers and it is working fine.

You have a javascript error in your theme. You can confirm it by temporarily switching to the default theme and testing like that.

You can see the error in grief.js file of your theme if your press Ctrl+Shift+j while using Google Chrome or Firefox.

Also your theme is loading an outdated version of jQuery:

Not enough, because you have another issue in your theme file. See attached screenshot.

You have 2 issues:

1) grief.js of your theme is using jQuery shortcode $, which is not allowed if it is unwrapped:

2) You are loading jQuery twice with version 1.6 and with version 1.7. This is not allowed either.

jQuery does not need to be upgraded by itself. Every WordPress version includes and is compatible to a certain jQuery version. Just delete direct call of jQuery in your theme files. Instead use wp_enqueue_script function in your functions.php:

Probably these are missed if you have created a custom WordPress theme using existing php files. Please also check this page:

You didn’t fix this error:

No idea. Why don’t you test it again after you fix the above error?
