Auto blog not pulling in correct image

Hi I have autoblog across some sites. My main site mywikaniko.com effectively collates lots of different feeds, I then curate and publish to a single "master" feed. My subdomains then auto publish from the rss - the issue I am having is that each post has a featured image, but the subdomains are not pulling in the correct one as it is not always the first pic on the post
Which setting should I be using on the featured image add-on?
You can see the Master Blog result here https://mywikaniko.com/ (slider at top is the pertinent bit) and you can then see the different version on a sub domain here http://wikaniko.net (the drought post hasnt pulled in a photo at all)
I am currently using media thumbnial setting (which doesnt work!) so advice would be appreciated. As is my rss feed I can set the master feed up in any way neccesary
Thanks

    Hi Scott Blake,
Hope you are doing good today

There are two add-ons in autoblog one is Featured Image Import that imports the image attach to a source entry (look for feature image tag in rss xml file). If the image does not attach as a featured image in source feed as featured image previously it will ignore rest of the images in content.

On the other hand, Image Import add-on will import first image from the source feed content and set that image as featured image on target blog.

Regarding your issue of drought post does not pull the image at all. I can not even see the drought post on your target blog http://wikaniko.net/?s=Drought+is+. It seems this post did not get imported at all and got missed while importing.

Please run the import on a test site again and then check if you see that post and its featured image on target blog or not.

Hope that helps! Feel free to post a reply if you need further assistance
    Cheers, Sajid

    Hi Scott Blake,
Hope you are doing good today

As mentioned above both add-ons can be used to set featured image. The issue here is not importing image, its not importing the post at all.

However, just to fetch one image from content and attach it with post you should use Featured Image add-on.

Enable this add-on from Auto Blog -> Add-ons section. Once you have this enabled you will see a new metabox/settings panel while adding/editing a feed as seen in attached screenshot. In your case, the recommended options are Find the first image within content of a feed item or Find the last image within content of a feed item.

I created a new feed on my own test site using this RSS Feed url of your website with above mentioned add-on + settings, it fetched the first image and assigned as featured image with each post on (see screenshot) (on a side note, I added the image column with this plugin).

Also, please bear in mind that WordPress by default only includes top 10 posts in RSS feed. You can increase this number from Settings -> Reading -> Syndication feeds show the most recent.

Hope that helps! Feel free to post a reply if you need further assistance

    Kind Regards,
    Sajid

    Hi Sajid

Thanks for your reply. I can see your point but you may have missed mine
When creating a post in my Master Feed the featured image I want to display may NOT BE the 1st Image in the post (or the last) So I write a post, the 1st image in the text area is Image A, and the Featured Image is image B. On my site Image B now shows correctly in my blog page etc, but when I go to my nexty site its Image A that is displayed....
    Hope that makes sense

    Hi Scott Blake,
Hope you are doing good today

Okay, thanks for explaining this issue again. I can understand the issue now. Just to make sure, you want to import feature image (that is image B) to your other site from master site ?

If yes, then instead of First Image or Last image option in add-on you need to set Use media:thumbnail tag of a feed item option from add-on settings (see screenshot).

You must install one of below plugins on your Master Feed site to add media:thumbnail tag in the RSS Feed (WordPress does not add that by default in feed).
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-feed-post-thumbnail/
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/sb-rss-feed-plus/

Take care and have a nice day

    Kind Regards,
    Sajid
